Generally this condition is the result of coolant loss, or failed thermostat. If coolant goes below cylinder head level, or thermostat remains closed, heat will stop working. Do not drive with this condition as excessive heat buildup in cylinder head can and will do serious damage to heads and or head gasket.
Find out where leak is and correct it. Change thermostat as it may also be damaged. Check for excessive steam from tailpipe or miss in engine, as these symptoms indicate a cylinder head problem.

Plenty of air but no heat one side of dash use to blow hot air. Now neither side blows hot air. 2000 jeep grand cherokee coolant is fine driver side seat heater doesn"t work air bag light comes on every...

Check to see that the blend door linkage is hooked up. Doubtful it is heater core, as you had heat to one side and not the other. Check coolant control valve linkage, verify it is moving the coolant valve from off to on when you switch temperature from cold to hot. Verify you have coolant flow to the heater core by feeling the heater hoses where they enter the firewall. If all checks out well, then look at hvac controls individually.

Will not blow hot air.

the jeep cherokee are fitted with a heater valve that sometimes get blocked or stuck in the same place .Start by checking weather the heater pipes going in to the heater matrix are hot if both pipes are cold then your looking at a thermostat problem and if only one of the pipes are hot then its more than likely to be the valve

Heater and defroster blowing cold air

Check your antifreeze. Then thermostat. If the engine is up to operating temp. (hopefully not overheating) and your getting no heat then you're most likely not getting the coolant to circulate. Either thermostat not opening, heater core bad, clogged radiator or coolant system.
