Best check for this is to get the car around 30mph, put it in top gear, and floor the gas. If the clutch is going to slip, this is when it'll happen. If it slips, you'll need to replace it. If it doesn't, there's likely no issue with the clutch and you'll have to look elsewhere for the problems you're seeing.

Yes, replace it. It wears out just like brake rotors do. If it is too thin the clutch will slip.

did you have the flywheel turned? Did you re-use anything from the old clutch?
The garage said that I didn't need a new flywheel, they just fitted a new clutch kit
I'm not sure that it is actually the clutch though... it is just slow to pick up in 1st...
