New front struts squeak a lot. How do I stop the noise?

We bought the struts from Auto Zone. The ride is smoother, but now it is squeaking and very noisy! What should I do to stop the noise?

SOURCE: struts were replaced but there is still squeaking in front

possible sway bar links, strut bearing plates (they sit on top of the strut), ball joints, tie rod ends. If the you can make it squeek by pushing up and down on the front, have someone do this while trying to narrow where the noise is coming from.

SOURCE: squeaking noise

This could possibly be the brake wear indicators.
They make a squealing sound when new brakes are needed.

does your car squeek going over bumps?levelroad?can you push on the front fenders or rear fenders and create the squeek?upper strut mounts ,sway bar end links, body bushings, steering rack mounts, can cause squeeks. try spraying wd-40 on the bushing one ay a time then test drive untill you find the cause.also may want to try and retorque all the bolts that hold the bushings.wish you the best.

What causes left front squeak?

There are a few areas that can squeak a bit after being cleaned and usually a can of WD40 will cure the problem. It's important not to lubricate the braking system, it shouldn't be squeaking as a result of turning the steering wheel. The top of the struts, strut mounts, the tie rod ends and ball joints can all be lightly sprayed to stop the noise. Spray a few things and check again, repeat until it's smooth and quiet.

FRONT END SUSPENSION Squeak

It is hard to tell with out more detail as to what makes it squeak. Does it squeak when you hit a bump, or while the vehicle is in motion? To test your struts simply push down on each front corner (above or next to headlight)as to rock the vehicle up and down. Pick a solid part as to not dent it. This is a good way to test your struts. If it goes up in a stiff motion(not rocking) its probably good. If it goes up and down easily and has a lot of play then your struts might need changes. The squeak could also be sway bar bushings as well. If it only squeaks when your in motion it could be your cv axle. If you are still in need please post more detail as to better diagnose the issue.

I replaced my shocks on my 1998 dodge durango and I want to know what else can I do for a smoother ride. I also noticed after replacing the shocks that I hear a squeking noise while driving up front on the...

First, check the ball joints-might be the source of your squeak and could certainly explain the movement of that wheel-if it fails while in service, it can be disasterous, so make sure they are not the reason of your 'looseness'. As for the squeak, if not caused by the ball joints, check bushings especially the sway bar bushings and the upper and lower control arms for damaged or missing rubber. A smooth ride does depend on tight suspension components and your choice of shocks also can affect it-too stiff= harsh ride, too soft=wallowing ride.

Since the ride is still OK, I would hold off on the strut replacement, but I would try some silicon spray for rubber on the suspension rubber parts (and strut assy) and try to stop the squeaking that way. Hope this helps because I would have guessed brake noise before strut noise.

Squeaking noise underneath in front

that sounds like the squeler fo the brakes and you might want to check to see if they need to be changed and/or have you had them changed yet?

Squeak sound in the front right tire & a thump noise in the rear.

It sounds like you have a bad strut, have the strut replaced, if it does not fix the problem seek help from a suspention shop.
