Replace coolant expansion tank line 1998 xj8

I have PNMNC 4583AC Expansion tank hose. It has connectors that I am unfamiliar with. I want to replace the old one, as it has disengaged the inner tube from the connector at the radiator. I want to avoid damage. How do they work?

SOURCE: leaking coolant checked radiator hoses and

take a look at the waterpump, these cars have problems with waterpump leaking, take caution, the waterpump is driven by the timing belt,if that belt pops or jumps due to coolant leaking on it and causing it to fail, then you will have a costly repair,i belive its about $4,000 to fix, it will cause cylinder head valves to bent, have this coolant leak check asap.

replace the oil cooler first before you change the head gasket ,but normally a 10 year old vehicle often has gasket fatigue ,not made like a good old fashioned copper head gasket ,they rarely went wrong

Coolant is not flowing into expansion tank via little hose and car is overheating. As it is getting hot the coolant bubbles and spits coolant through the little hose but it is sputtery like it is tryi

coolant will not flow from the return pipe continuously.when the engine heats the coolant expands returns to tank. coolant fan starts engine cools down return pipe flow stops . fan stops after times, again coolant heats up and flows through the pipe. this cycle continues and go on.

Front coolant cap brocken

yes u can , make sure the car is cold, you will have to remove the coolant expansion tank...at the bottom it has connection hose with a clip pin,Remove the clip pin,and to the side beneath their is a sensor, disconnect the sensor..then up top disconnect the upper coolant connection line, you will have two screws on some maybe three securing the tank, remove them, the tank will come out, replace with new tank reconnect the bttom hose and retaining clip, and then sensor, then the upper coolant line. Then fill with cooalnt crank the car ,turn the ac on on high, remove the bleed screw while car is running as you fill it up with coolant, continue filliung until the reservoir is up to the full mark and all bubbles have stopped coming out of the bleed whole...then put the bleed screw back, and the coolant cap...

Vw jetta iv, temperature alarm sounds and flash with no aparent reason. temperature dial indiator is ok.

I WOULD CHECK BOTH RADIATOR HOSES TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE HOT. THERMOSTAT COULD BE STICKING SLIGHTLY CLOSED.CHECK COOLANT LEVEL MAKE SURE COOLANT NOT LOW.IF COOLING NOT BOILING OUT OF THE EXPANSION TANK. I WOULD HAVE CAR HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOTIC SCANNER AND CHECK COOLANT TEMPERATURE SEE IF TEMP. OVER 230 DEGREES IF SO RADIATOR COOLING FANS NOT WORKING.COOLANT THERMO SWITCH BAD BOTH FANS SHOULD BE RUNNING AT LOW SPEED.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY LOW COOLANT SENSOR IN EXPANSION TANK.MAKE SURE COOLANT IS IN THE EXPANSION TANK BECAUSE COOLANT LEVEL COULD BE LOW.ADD COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK UNTIL YOU AT MAX LEVEL LINE ON THE EXPANSION TANK.DONT OVER FILL THE EXPANSION KEEP ADDING COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAYS AT THE MAX LEVEL LINE ON THE EXPANSION TANK.

Cant find the valve to let air pressure from my radiator for my water to flow right

FILL COOLANT SYSTEM UP BY POURING COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN THE EXPANSION.WHEN YOU POUR COOLANT IN EXPANSION TANK AIR BLEED OFF THROUGH THE SMALL COOLANT LINES GOING TO EXPANSION TANK.WITH PRESSURE CAP OFF RADIATOR COOLANT LEVEL IN EXPANSION IS AT FULL COLD MARK.WHAT YOU TO DO CRANK ENGINE UP LET IDLE WARM UP UNTIL COOLANT DROPS IN EXPANSION TANK KEEP ADDING COOLANT UNTIL STOP DROPPING STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.WHEN COOLANT LEVEL START RISING IN EXPANSION TANK.PUT PRESSURE CAP BACK ON RADIATOR.WHILE ENGINE IDLING WATCH TEMPERATURE GAUGE.IF START CLIMBING TURN OFF ENGINE LET IT SIT FOR LITTLE WHILE TAKE A LARGE RAG OPEN RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDING TO RELEASE AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM.WHEN PRESSURE IS RELEASED OPEN PRESSURE CAP ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK.CRANK ENGINE AGAIN LET IDLE WHEN TEMPERATURE GAUGE START CLIMBING. TURN OFF ENGINE WAIT FOR WHILE BEFORE OPEN RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.WHEN YOUR THERMOSTAT OPENS WHEN TOP RADIATOR HOSE IS HOT AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE STOP CLIMBING AND COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN THE EXPANSION TANK.ALL AIR IS EXPELLED FROM COOLANT SYSTEM TO KEEP ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING.

I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE COOLANT RESERVOIR ON A 2000 BMW 323CI

Are you talking the expansion tank? If so - Drain coolant first by going underneath the car and take off the protective shield and unscrewing the blue plastic screw (make sure the car is NOT hot!), under the reservoir you'll see an electronic sensor - carefully twist is a 1/4 turn counterclockwise and gently pull downward to remove this sensor don't force it, you don't want to pay $150 to replace it. Disconnect the hoses on the top and bottom of expansion tank by pulling up the metal tabs upwards then pulling the hose away from the tank. I believe there are two or three screws which hold the expansion tank bracket in place, unscrew these and pull the bottom of the tank away from the radiator then lift upwards on the bracket (the bracket and expansion tank should then come out). Get the old expansion tank off the bracket and replace. You want to take off the bracket because getting a new tank on the bracket is a B*TCH!

Reconnect in reverse order.

Make sure to bleed the cooling system properly to remove air pockets (please use BMW coolant and distilled H20 in 50/50 mix - it's not the same as your Prestone or other mass produced coolants). Last replace the expansion tank cap because that might have created the expansion tank cracking.

Good luck and hope this helps

How do I change the coolant

Hi!!
On the bottom of the radiator, there is a drain valve, just open it and drain fluid into a container, if you want faster drain, remove bottom radiator hose.
NOTE: DO NOT OPEN SYSTEM WHEN HOT, COOLANT IS POISONOUS FOR PETS, KEEP IT AWAY FROM THEM.
Good Luck!! Rate this post!!

Radiator - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Perform this work only on a cold engine.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Set the heater control to MAX heat.
  3. Remove the expansion tank cap.
  4. Place a suitable drain pan into position. Open the **** on the right-hand side of the engine block. Fit a hose to the **** to collect the coolant. Open the radiator draincock.
  5. Close the drain cocks when the coolant is completely drained.
  6. Remove the cooling fan.
  7. Remove the cooling fan shroud.
  8. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses
  9. 91a8f77.jpg
  10. On vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines at the radiator. Plug the lines immediately. Catch the spillage from the radiator in a separate pan.
  11. 379639b.jpg
  12. Some vehicles are equipped with a temp sensor on the drivers side top of the radiator, if equipped remove the connector.
  13. Remove the radiator retaining bolts and brackets.
  14. a2b05c9.jpg _506019a.jpg
  15. Remove the radiator assembly from the vehicle.
  16. 45887bc.jpg

On 850/C70/S70/V70 models, the radiator comes out the bottom of the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Place the radiator into position and install the retaining bolts.
  2. On automatic transmission vehicles, connect the oil cooler lines.
  3. Install the fan and shroud.
  4. Install the lower and upper radiator hoses.
  5. Connect the expansion tank hose. Make sure that the overflow hose is clear of the fan and is free of any sharp bends.
  6. Fill the cooling system through the expansion tank, with a 50 percent antifreeze, 50 percent water solution.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
  9. Bleed the cooling system.
  10. Check for leaks.
  11. Top up the cooling system, as required.
  12. Replace the cap.
  13. Check and top up the automatic transmission fluid level.

Hope thats help (remember comment and rated this).

I have a 2004 BMW 330i and have replaced everything in the coolant system, and my vehicle is still leaking coolant out the expansion tank, or the cap where you add coolant to the radiator. I have use OEM...

We have had some similar problems with some BMW's,the last one we replaced the expansion tank. Before we attached the upper radiator hose to the radiator we filled the engine with antifreeze through the hose.Install the hose and fill your expansion tank to the proper level and run the engine to operating temperature.

Start loosing coolant when temp comes to 220.

Should run between 195 and 215. Get it pressure checked to find leak. Head gaskets give problems on this motor.
