Changed computer and it ran for about 20miles.. back to no injection... just fires off the cold start. lots of spark. tack works... check all grounds... fuses.... everything is good.. old computer smells like burnt elec.... but nothing shows signs of burning inside. and no fuses are blown...

Still need the codes.
Injectors can go "bad" in a couple of different ways; all they are is an electromagneticaly controlled nozzle. When the ECU "fires" the injector, it pulses a ground circuit for 4-8 milliseconds, the electromagnet powers up, the valve at the bottom of the injector opens, and the fuel shoots out, under pressure. The wire can be bad/chafed/corodded/ The electromagnet may be weak. The nozzle may be stuck. Lots of things. But, to put in an injector for a number 4 cylinder misfire (p-0304 code) would be one of the last things that I would do.

test light on neg with key on power at both sides of coil ???? next test light on bat plus put to coil neg and have somone turn car over if test light flashes and still no spark coil is bad if test light no flash ignighter is most likely bad the ignighter switches ground on your coil for spark

Check to see if the 15 amp EFI fuse is blown.
This fuse controls the ECU and the injection.

I think you should check your timing again, check the firing order of the distributor and if they are with there corresponding spark plug. Did you mark the connector or label them before disassembling. Maybe u left the timing in exhaust instead of compression

A code 6 is an RPM missing signal. Your distributor coil circuit is open (or could be the coil).Check continuity with a volt meter.Check the blue/yel wire and the white one for cracks or broken, and if possible trace them to the computer for continuity. This malfuntion is a code 6 BUT car should start even so. Now to the injectors:check pulsating ground from computer,if not check wiring,if they are OK,try another computer.
Testimonial: "I already figured it out, but you did guess it correctly so I figured I would try to help your score. It was the ECM."
injector pulse is just controlled by the ecm or computer as some would say,u said u replaced wires? did u have a fire or melt wires? ecm is known to go bad on these, had a few of these trucks back in the day.
