Replaced the Shift cable bushing now will not shift.
SOURCE: 1993 Saturn SL2 will not shift into highway gear
Saturn says and I quote
there transmission fluid is not to be changed after the first change at 6000 miles.
Now I say it should be changed at every 30000 miles. If changing out the fluid doesn't work then you need to go to a transmission repair shop.
SOURCE: Saturn SW1 will not shift into 2nd, 4th, or reverse
no hydralic fluid in the resvoir look for the resvoir on the fire wall of the drivers side if its empty well fill it back up lol not sure if the sw1 has this but ive had too fix this problem before

There are several vendors, OK maybe only 3 or 4, selling a shifter bushing repair kit on ebay for manual shift S series Saturns 91-99. I have read about what a common problem this is though I have never had it; and I have had 4 manual shift Saturns ....... knock wood. Anyhow I bought a kit, about 20 bucks, and keep it in a bag tucked under neath the shifter boot, 2 small parts and instructions seem straightforward. Note to fix this a dealer will sell you new cables and install them, very expensive!

Hello:
NAPA sells the replacement bushing ($20) better than Saturns $200 to replace both cables.
Good luck
SOURCE: My saturn was running fine. Then it would shift very hard
well if it shifts very hard into every gear that means the pressure control solenoid in the trans went bad and it causing the trans to go to max line pressure thats why it shifts so hard,,,it does that so you can still drive it even thou it broken, anyhow the PC solenoid is under the trans pan which is on the TOP of the trans under the battery,,,,not too hard a job to do, the parts are about $100 labor might be about $200,,,easy fix,,could be alot more,,,and if you dont fix it ,it will break other stuff in the trans and cost alot more,,,
