If you don't have any engine lights on, the first thing to replace would be the fuel filter. It is located under your car, probably about half way down. Just follow the gas line, and you'll find it.
I have a 91 shadow and had a similar problem. Mine is fuel injected, and the quick fix was to just go buy some fuel injector cleaner, I reccomend STP, and throw that in the gas tank every fill up for about a month. Mine hasn't had the problem since.
