One day, on the hwy the car lost power quickly and since then hasn't liked to go up hills and has top speed around 25, and the car has no rpm gauge but it sounds and feels like its way out of range. have replaced oxygen censors, muffler, flex pipe, fuel filter, and just removed cat converter to see if there may be a pressure change but noticed no change. It never gave me much trouble before, and the timing chain was replaced about a year ago too. What might be the problem now?
SOURCE: hard start
Its your fuel pump.I had the same plomblem not too long ago.I was spraying either in to start it.I have a 97 chevy truck witch requires 65 psi to start and 55 to run properly. You need to find out much psi you need to start it.You can probaly look in your manual or just make a few calls. My truck had 55 psi and it ran fine i just had to get it running first.Good luck.I wonder if that fuel pressure regulator was a waste of time like it was for me.
SOURCE: 97 Cavalier engine coolant light.
have you changed the sensor on the coolant reservoir? try that.
SOURCE: I have a 1988 Cavalier Z-24 with a 2.8 engine.
Clean the Air Idle control (IAC) valve in the throttle body, MAF sensor, and EGR valve. Also check or replace the fuel pressure regulator at the fuel injector rails, make sure all the vacuum hoses are good and replace any damaged hoses. NO check engine light is a good thing but here is a link for you to check the car for any DTC codes. Good luck and keep up the good work and keep the car running.

SOURCE: 5.3 L Missing and Rough Idle Intermittently
i have a 2001 chevy z-71 5.3L. I keep getting a random/multiple misfire code for cylinder 1 . I have replaced plugs, wires, coil pack(only on #1 cylinder)., and fuel pump. I still keep getting the cylinder 1 misfire code. I put truck on a scanner and watched the cylinders. # 1 misfires at idle but quickly stops misfiring at around 1000 rpms. you can here the engine miss at idle but truck runs great on road . anyone else ever had this problem?
SOURCE: Can someone discribe symtoms of a bad or clogged
The symptoms are lack of power when trying to accelerate.Could also run a little rough. Will also cause a check engine light. You should have it checked to see what code you have. You can get the converter checked at a repair shop.It does not take long to check. You just need an exhaust back pressure tester. The best way is to call ahead and ask what they will charge to do the job.A good repair shop will explain exactly what they will do and should be able to show you the results.Hope this helps.Let me know if you have anymore questions.Good luck.
