2002 jeep grand Cherokee battery won't charge

I bought this cae used in Sep 08. It has hard time to start up after first 3-week. I have to step on gas ped to get the engine started. Dealer said the battery connectors and cables have problems, so they replaced it. I doubt the old battery is not good, so replaced it with a new DieHard high crank power battery in Oct 08.
Last night, the car just won't start, even I step on the gas ped, nothing happen. The voltagemeter shows 12.5Volt, not 14Volt as usual.
This morning, I have to jump start the car. Dealer spent a whole day, put on a computer but no error code was found.
What is the possible problem ? Is it alternator ? power cable corrisions ? or somthing else ?

Sounds like alternator.Get it started then disconnect one lead from battery and see if it still runs. If not, then have your alternator checked.

2002 jeep cherokee laredo won't start new battery

The Jeep DTC P1491 code is actually radiator fan control relay circuit.
Soft reset if the battery disconnect would have erased the code; the first thing I would replace for that code (fan relay).
Additionally, its possible thta your THEFT system is activated, check owners manual to disarm.
Hope this helps.

We have a 2002 Grand Cherokee that we have just bought. Dealer installed a brand new battery because of sluggish starts. In a week the battery is acting weak again, sometimes it starts fine, other times...

I was having the same issue with my 95 GMC. I replaced the battery and alternator. It would start fine at times, at other times it would be sluggish. I finally took the starter off and had it checked. Turns out the starter was bad. When it would get hot, it would act as though the battery was dead. Replaced the starter and it has not acted up again. Have the starter checked. Replace if bad.

Jeep 2002 grand cherokee dies unless i keep foot on the gas...

The idle relearn needs reset. Keep your foot on the gas at about 900 rpm. Make it idle for about 5-6 minutes. Slowly ease up on the gas until it will idle on it's own, it might take a while. After you get it to idle, it might be idling real low, but on its own, Let it sit and idle until for 20 minutes. After that it should be back to normal. You will have to do this every time you have the battery unhooked for a while.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Not Starting Intermittently

Check the battery. If it starts to fail it will start doing any conceivable thing including failing to start the car. Have the battery checked with a load tester. A simple voltmeter will not give an account of the requirements needed and the ability of the battery to meet those requirements.
