WOULD A IDLE CONTROL VALVE/IDLE AIR CONTROL BE CAUSING MY 2000 CADILLAC DEVILLE TO IDLE AT 1400 TO 1750 RPM SOMETIMES IT IDLES OK..IS IT A HARD FIX..THANKS...

Try cleaning the throttle plate first . I wouldn't just change the IAC valve without testing , hooking up a scan tool that show engine data.
A few different thing's could cause high idle .The idea is to test all thing's that could cause a high idle till you find the problem. Vacuum leaks , throttle plate sticking because it's gummed up with carbon , varnish build up . Or is the PCM/ECM making it idle that hight etc... Is the throttle cable bound up.

How to replace my idle speed motor 1990 Dakota v6 3.9l

I had a 1992 5.2 V8 Dakota,so I looked over my
Factory Service Manual for you

The 3.9 & 5.2 are much the same

At the front of the throttle body is the MAP Sensor
On the drivers side the TPS & at the rear the AIS Motor

Air Idle Speed Motor

My experience once, was with a low idle, I replaced a worn
set of spark plugs, cleaned the rotor & cap & was good to go

That is what I would do & then remove the AIS & try cleaning it
& the port it goes into

I have a Mastertech OBD 1 Scan tool like the GM Tech 2 ,back
in those years,so I could control the idle with it, to test it

Today I just use the scope for TPS & Oxygen Sensors & moved
on the a Notebook Scan Software

I can not see from the manual the screw type, but it appears to be
two screws holding it in & I would guess they are torx, like a T30
maybe

If you can't get it to work or idle replace the AIS

Make sure the cable & throttle shaft etc don't stick

If you have to remove the throttle body & clean it good

2001 Ford Taurus idels low and stalls sometimes when stopping at a stop light

sometime this will happen if the throttle blade idle hole gets plugged with carbon. if you take off the air inlet tube off the throttle body and look into the throttle body you will see a round looking flat disk , you will see a small hole in it .about the size of a stir stick straw .this hole gets plugged with carbon and will effect the idle.it calibrated to let the right amount of air in the engine @ idle.if you clean this there is a good chance this will fix your problem . be careful what cleaner you use as some of the throttle blades are coated with a Teflon coating(local parts store will have the proper throttle body cleaner for these ford throttle bodies )

Accelerator sticks at start off - not cable problem - it was replaced and problem still exists. you have to push against the peddle quite hard to get going. Also revs when you stop at traffic-lights or...

The high-idle sensor often malfunctions on those cars. I would check that. If you have a carbureted model, then you have a vacuum actuated sensor on the firewall that sends a vacuum signal to the dashpot on the carburetor that raises the idle speed.

93 Buick Skylark is idling really high. New computer was installed, new throttle control sensor, and idle air sensor. It is still idling too high. Throttle control was cleaned and it is still idling high....

Idling high in the skylark could be something to do with throttle control, or idle air control valve, other possibilities could be a vacuum leak or mass air flow sensor, it could also be a faulty system recently replaced. When you vehicle idles high it means it is getting more fuel than its suppose to in the fuel/air mixture, most times to much fuel in the mixture is caused by a leak or malfunction in the air delivery not allowing the appropriate amount of air in.

The throttle sticks during the warmer months

The throttle body is located on the driver side of the engine compartment.
If throttle plate has not been clean you might want to get a can of carburetor cleaner, remove the inlet snorkel hose and clean around and behind the throttle plate.
The IAC (idle air control) motor may need to be cleaned. The IAC controls your idle rpm.
Good luck, let me know.
