Does anyone have a clear illustration on how to replace the alternator wire that runs to the battery on my Saturn. The wire burned in half and when I replaced it it worked fine for about a day or so. Now the car will not turn over. The little cooler motor was still running and the battery is still in very good condition. I think I must have not replaced it corrrectly? Idk James

If the problem occurs after the car has been driven long enough to reach normal operating temperature, the problem is the starter. If the 'no crank' occurs cold, retest the battery.

look for loosen battery wires, corrosion in them. check ground wire all the way to the engine block make sure its connected right and check ground to the body of your vehicle.
Testimonial: "wires corroded really bad. just replacet it and it fixed it. thanks"

I have a 98 Saturn SL1 from time to time it would not start, it wouldn't even try. I knew the battery was good. It turned out to be the cranshaft position sensor.

the ignition maybe bad are the car is not all the way in park also check the battery to make sure it has a good charge and it does not have a bad cell in it and the terminals are clean.

my only guess is a vacuum hose leak. possibly a loose air filter housing, or the mass air flow sensor. look for any hoses unplugged. if nothing is noticed, try cleaning out your fuel system. if that doesnt solve it, then it would be something an experienced mechanic would have to come and examine it personally.
