If you know for a fact the cooling fan is why the engine overheats, you would test the relay and the signal from the computer.
The relay gets power from the battery circuit and the key switch, and a ground signal from the computer when the fan is needed.
The engine temp sensor tells the computer how hot the engine is, and when it reaches 220 degrees the computer grounds the relay providing power to the fan motor.
You would need a meter or a test light and the wiring diagram for the circuit to find the problem.

The fan may run with jumper wires but if it''s blowing the 30 Amp Maxifuse it's needs a new or used fan motor. It's pulling too many amps.I have almost never seen a fan relay concern.Only other thing you may check is the wiring down near the fan shoud I have seen the 2 wires get loose from the conduit & melt onto exhaust manifold.Hope tHis Helps
SOURCE: Need radio unlock code for 2000 saturn
Hello,
The best possible thing I could advise you to do would be this. Sometimes they can do it over the phone. Tell them that you are having issues with your radio being locked. Usually they can look up by your VIN number and get you your unlock code. Otherwise you will have to take it to the dealer and have them hook up their vehicle scanner (Tech-2) and they will be able to fix it. Everyone on the internet has their own secret ways about how to obtain these codes, but with it comes to GM the best way is to take it to a dealer.
Good Luck!
SOURCE: how do i replace the car battery on a saturn sl1
Hi,
The battery is under the hood and for a full breakdown on the procedure please view this FixYa Tip.
The Saturn battery is held in with a tie down and you will need a 3/8 socket to release it from the car once you have followed the procedure as outlined.
Thanks for using FixYa.
