I have a 2007 Sonata and the driver's side sun visor broke. I called the dealership where I purchased the car, and was told that they only cover it for 5 years/60,000 miles. So if your's is broken, get it in there before the warranty expires. Otherwise the cost is around $80 for the visor unit.
I had the same problem with my 2007 Sonata. I took it into the dealership and they were aware of the problem and fixed it.
My husband has a 07 sonata. The visors on both sides have broke one was under warranty but not the other that im trying to get fixed now. I hate this car since day one we've only have had problems with it. I literally drive it 4 miles a day to work and home and it stays in the garage. Its leaking oil and has had multiple other engine related problems. I cant cant to get rid of this pile of **** they call a car
I just purchased a used 2006 sonata, and have had the same problem since the day I test drove the car and mentioned it to the salesman about having read about the problem online. Now they say they can’t fix because the warranty is just past the 60,000 mark –of course I bought the car with 62,000 miles on it already, Hyundai is probably just waiting till someone gets hurt when the driver visor falls down and causes an accident, I guess Hyundai hasn’t been paying attention to what happened to TOYOTA?
UGH! are there instructions anywhere online, on how to disassemble the damn "defective-hyundai" part and repair it yourself?

I have the same problem with my 2007 Sonata Limited except it is on the passenger side. It is very distracting and I am disappointed that has not been addressed.
I have the same problem with my 2007 Sonata
I have the same problem with my 2006 Sonata. The driver's side visor hinge broke and now it is hanging. I have had two plastic pieces have broke in the last month (one of which is the visor's hinge...the second is the center console's latch). It is making me rethink my car (so far runs great...the interior leaves me cold).
same problem but both of mine have dropped
Yep, my hinge broke about 2 months ago and I have a plastic bag tied from the hinge to the handle on the side to keep it up. i'm going to get it checked tomorrow. it bothers me too
Same problem passenger side sun visor won't stay up on my 2007 Sonata SE. My wife uses it all the time and now it will not stay up against ceiling when not in use.
I have the same problem with my 2006 Sonata. The the visor would not stay up and the hinge broke. Now my visor light doesn't work. I have it rigged up with wiring from ear buds into the sunglasses holder. It is really annoying and dangerous that I can't use it to see when the sun is blinding me. I am going to take it into the dealership and see what they say. There should definitely be a recall though if this many people have had this problem.
My friend has the same proplem with her visor. 2005 sonata, is this under warrenty???
I have the same problem with the sun visor on the driver's side. The dealership tells me it should be covered under the warranty and they are fixing it this weekend.
I have a ford explorer and my hinge is now totally broken. At first it cracked, then wouldn't stay up all the way, the plastic mirror hinge also broke and today the hinge broke in lots of pieces. My warranty is over, can you order a new hinge???? I've been looking and can't find anything.
The "hing" on my 2006 Sonata broke today. I simply flipped the driver's side visor down as I've done many times before, heard a snapping sound, and now the visor won't stay put in either position. Apparently the inside grip of the viisor flap was too great, and the plastic shaft that goes into the visor flap broke. I could see this by pulling the visor slightly away. I cannot figure out how to remove the plastic plate covering the attachment of the visor rod where it connects to the interior roof. I'll have to take it to the dealer. I hope it's covered by the warrarnty. Anyone get theirs repaired yet? Details?
Did you have to pay to have it fixed or was it covered under a recall or warranty?
