SOURCE: chev. S10 starts but stop's immediate when hot

check compression, at that many miles the exhaust seats could be wearing up into head causing valves to stay open longer loosing compression, while the engine is cold oil is thicker ,lifters pump up further do to thick oil when oil thins out you have less lifter pump up thus working working properly check compression cold should be 125 low to 155 any less than 100 you have valve prob.

SOURCE: Fuel pump does not engage until check engine lite comes on

It may be worthwhile to check the power lead from the ignition switch to the pcm. (may be a dark purple wire) If it has partial connection, it may take several turns of the key to "burn through" and make a decent electrical connection. This would not show up as a code otherwise it would set a code every time you started the vehicle. Same applies to external pcm ground leads. A poor connection often causes some heating at the connection point due to extra resistance there. After you turn it off, it can cool enough to again break the connection. Make sure that you check voltage at the wire behind the pin connector and again at the pin itself as many times the problem is where the pin joins the wire.
Could be wrong on this butr being here without the benefiot of "hands on" testing, it's my best guess.

Jaguar XJ 6 97 engine shuts down acts like its not getting gas engine will restart and 22 to 35 minutes will run for about 5 minutes then shut down again could this be a gas filter problem

Could very well be the fuel filter, try replacing it, aslo check for a cramped fuel line, if the problem persists, check the fuel pump

Could be a problem in the ignition circuit. Check or test coil and ignition module-one of them may be shutting down or shorting out when they get hot.
Verify by checking for spark at a plug wire immediately after it shuts off: if no spark, it is an ignition problem. Besides the coil and ignition module, other possibilities are the crank position sensor, cam position sensor, ecu, the ASD relay (automatic shuit down relay-it's in the power distribution box under hood). If that relay fails, all power is cut to coil and fuel injectors, and maybe the fuel pump also.
Good luck.

My car shuts off and stalls sometimes when i am

Could be fuel filter, fuel pump, air filter, coil, spark plugs, plugged catalitic converter, injectors or a host of other things. Start with the simple things like air filter, see if its dirty, then fuel filter especially if it has not been changed for many miles. Check battery connections, ground wires from body to motor and ground wire from battery to motor and body

96 jeep cherokee, inline 6 4.0... runs fine... after shut off (5-10 mins) acts like its chokeing out, wont start acts like its missing, no combustion (fuel injected) let sit for 20 mins, fires up fine......

Try the pick-up coil that is under the distributer cap.Remove the cap and rotor button then remove the plate that is under the rotor button.Next you need to take off the relucter wheel that is in the way so you can take out the bolts and remove the pick-up coil.

1987 crwn vic 5.0 l, 302, Engine runs for 5-10 minutes and shut down. Cranks but will not restart. After 12-24 hrs car will start again and run for 5-10 minutes and process repeats. When the car shuts off...

this is tough, two things I can think of, the first is the coil, if it is not ground good there wont be a good spark or a defective coil,,,, but i am leaning more to it being the timing chain jumped a cog,,, the computer would start the engine advansed but as the engine warmed it would ****** the spark ,,, after 5-10 min. it would quit,, this I would if it si a higher milage car. '87 Silverado,5.7, Shuts down while driving

It sounds like you have a clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump maybe weak. I would change the fuel filter first and see what happens. Or you are having a distributer problem with the coil. Also check for a wire grounding out around the engine.

1994 Chrysler LHS Starting Problems

it's either a spark or fuel fault , if there is spark after it shuts down it is a fuel fault. connect a pressure gauge in the fuel line, start the engine , note fuel pressure around 35 psi , stop engine , pressure should drop a little then hold, if not check pump return valve and pressure regulator , check fuel flow , if low replace fuel filter,
