The ABS and traction control are ususally one in the same and will require a mechanic with special tools to diagnose. You can check to make sure the brake pads are not worn out (it is about time to replace them on this year car) that the wheel sensor wires are in one piece and amke sure the brake fluid is changed (This needs to be done every 24,000 miles on any car). As for the Check Engine light, you'll need a scanner to pull the code, but check the gas cap as this is the most usual culprit. We have a 2004 Grand Am (very similar to the Alero, but without the traction or ABS) and the only time the Engine light came on was when the cap was loose.

2 different problems
check engine light = need to have scanned
2 anti-lock and trac light are linked and could be related. yes spining tire can cause trac light to come on
You need a new wheel bearing, This also happened to my olds alero, make sure 2 jack up each tire 1 at a time and pull back and forth on them checking for play, once you have found the 1 that has play or wobbles that is the 1 that needs a new wheel bearing
It could be a loose wire under the hood or dash. Was there any smell associated with the pop-hiss? It sounds like there was a short in the main power somewhere that literally killed your engine and then let it restart under it's own momentum. Hence the blackout and reset of the main computer.
Feel safe about your trip as this a only warning lights that some issues are at hand concerning your car, it does not mean you can not travel 1000miles.
Just take your car for a scan and it will all be corrected.
Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the Check Engine, Service Engine Soon, ABS Or TC lights to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. I would take it to a service center you trust and let then come up with a solution. Sometimes a problem in one system will turn light on for other systems that communicate with it, but it doesn't mean there is a problem in all of the systems.
Id have to know what code has triggered the Service Engine Soon light in order to diagnose that. It could be related to the anti-lock and traction control system being off or it could be something separate.
That said, it is common for the anti-lock and traction control to be turned off if one or more of the wheel speed sensors goes bad. In some cases the wheel speed sensors are separate from the wheel bearings but in your case I believe they are integrated with the wheel bearing, so in order to replace the sensor you have to replace the wheel bearing.
In order to know which wheel bearing is the culprit, you'd have to have the car hooked up to a scan tool capable of reading ABS codes.
Anti-Lock and Trac Off lights are lit on my 1999 Alero, as well. They usually come on after about 5 minutes of driving, but are not always on when I start the car.
