I HAVE A 3.1 V-6 NOW IN MY 95 GRAND AM. THE CAMSHAFT BROKE, SO I AM REPLACING THE ENGINE. BUT I AM WANTING TO GO WITH A 3.4 V-6 IN PLACE OF THE 3.1 IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. CAN ANYONE POSSIBLY TELL ME IF THIS CAN BE DONE AND HOW MUCH MORE IN DEPTH WILL IT BE? RATHER THAN GOING BACK WITH A 3.1. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY/ALL INPUT ON THIS FROM ALL. I HAVE TO MAKE A DECISION OF WHAT TO DO ASAP, BUT CAN'T AFFORD $ TO SCREW MYSELF AFTER THE FACT OF BUYING ANOTHER MOTOR, ETC.... THANKS AGAIN!
SOURCE: engine missing, particularly in idle, or dies when turning
The intake gaskets leaking would cause the engine to have a misfire. Get a can of Brake Clean and spray in around the intake manifold on the top of the engine while the engine is running. The engine idle will go up or down if there is a leak. Also try swapping the spark plug with another spark plug to see if the misfire moves to another cylinder. If it moves then you have a bad spark plug. I hope this helps.
SOURCE: replacing bad camshaft position sensor
Reverse procedure to install and prior to installing new sensor, lubricate sensor O-ring.
It is located under the water pump. Make sure when you remove the sensor that you rotate the crank shaft and look in the hole to make sure the pick up magnet is still in there. Sometimes they come loose and cause a no start or long crank. You will need to have the code cleared still.
If the fuse and fuel pump relay check out then yes, your friend may be right. Inspect the connections to the pump and check related wiring for damage.

check to see if you have a fuse for anti-lock brakes...if so it could be loose or blown
SOURCE: possible vacuum leak dont know what else
What codes did auto zone tell you? You wrote it down, along with the explanation? Why replace the coil packs? You did some kind of test first? You need to spend the money on education first, then test equipment, then parts.
