Okay, thanks for reply earlier...here's more info...maybe you can help

Plymouth neon 1998. no spark according to timing light....but when checked with wire and clips the coil pack is producing spark on clip. It might be moisture down in spark plugs...havent checked yet. I think crank and cam position sensors are working, because there is a spark from the coil pack...also i read that a way to detect crank p.s. or cam p.s. are not working is that it will shut off fuel pump after a couple seconds. Tried cranking engine for five seconds and no fuel stop. what in the heck else could it be. Also, strangley, the gas pedal seems loose or weak when i push it with my foot (i dont know if there is any correlation). Checked to make sure gas pedal was opening valve for air, it was working fine. Battery checked also, still pretty good. Tried also starter fluid in air intake...nothing. It's like there is absolutely no spark....although, by all means there should be. What in the hay??? Any help would be appreciated. thank you April

    okay, now I'm thinking it might be the solenoid and the starter or the engine is seized up due to timing belt problems....the engine is no longer turning over, but it sounds like the starter is knock knock knocking...or click click clicking....either the starter and solenoid is trying to engage the flywheel and the flywheel wont turn because the engine is seized, or there is something wrong with the starter bendix/solenoid....My friend says that it is possible the engine turned over before and didnt fire is because the starter/solenoid/bendix was turning the engine over too slowly...My last effort before the shop is going to be to take the starter/solenoid off and have it tested at autozone. Here's hoping it's not the darn engine.

I dont know too much about cars, but since I own the same model, I thought I would shed some light on the situation.
All Chrysler vehicles came with service codes. Meaning, it will give you a number and you can go look up the problem. I am just going to insert the way I found out how to do it to check my car.

Turn the ignition ON-OFF-ON-OFF and ON (not start) within 5 seconds. Count the number of times the "check engine" lamp on the instrument panel flashes on and off. The number of flashes represents the code. There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. Longer pauses separate individual codes. FLASH, FLASH, FLASH, pause, FLASH, FLASH = code 32.

A code of "55" represents end of error codes. If you only get this code, then no error codes are stored in the computer.

Post the numbers you are getting and I will glady tell you what your codes mean.

The valve cover seals like to leak and fill up the spark plug tubes with oil. so 1st thing, you should pull the spark plug boots to check, the pull and inspect the spark plugs.

next.
pull spark plug boot off of the #1 spark plug. Insert a new spark plug into the spark plug boot. Ground the plug to the engine.
Crank the engine and look for spark across the electrodes of the spark plug.

okay, thanks for reply earlier...here's more info. - b14ceac.png

then reconnect the boot the the #1 plug, pull the boot off of the #2 plug repeat the test, then do #3 and #4.

if all cylinders have no spark/ weak spark, its most likely a bad coil pack.

to check the coil pack:
Measure the primary resistance of each coil. At the coil, connect an ohmmeter between the B+ pin and the pin corresponding to the cylinders in question. Resistance should be 0.45 - 0.65 ookay, thanks for reply earlier...here's more info. - d8ef093.pngmg src="/uploads/images/d8ef093.png" alt="d8ef093.png" class="h_mi" />
----------------------------------
Measure the secondary resistance of the coil between the towers of each individual coil. Sokay, thanks for reply earlier...here's more info. - 55ffb2d.pngsistance should be
11k - 14k ohms

Neon Plymouth 2000.Replaced the starter,the ignition switch,replaced the battery,relay fuses.it started one time and then now nothing.Please help me trouble shoot.

Hi Susan , when you turn the key to the start position does the starter engage an spin the engine ? If yes , pull a spark plug wire an check for spark , do you know how to do that ? You can buy a spark tester at the auto parts store or stick a screw in the spark plug boot a hold it near ground .( metal on the engine ) Have someone crank the engine . Does it have spark ? If not could be the coil or crankshaft position sensor . Watch this video !

Water leaking into the back passenger floorboard of Plymouth 1998 Neon

I had the exact same problem with my 1995 neon. It was leaking around the tail light. I pulled the tail lights off and put a heavy coat of RTV silicone on the gasket, and 2 years later never happened again

Neon 2000 plymouth _my problem motor surges while idling

fuel line has a sludge blockage, check the line for dents you will have to get the line replaced if there are any dents that could be the problem - if there is a fuel line filter remove it blow out the line with compressed air, there may also be sludge in the gas tank this is best cleaned out by a mechanic who has the time and patience and knows what he is doing. Its a sign your gas tank is slowly corroding and will soon have to be replaced...

We replaced the Water pump and Timing belt on a 1999 Plymouth Neon 2.0 Single Overhead Cam Engine. Engine Cranks, Is getting Fuel...but no spark. We changed the Coil Pack. It still cranks, but no...

If its not getting spark the choices are limited. You already replaced the coil pack so whats left is ignition module, crank sensor, knock sensor, cam sensor, or the timing was not was not set properly when putting it back together. Any one of those would create a no spark situation.

1998 Plymouth Neon only "clicks" when you try to start it.

Hello;
Check the voltage at the battery. It should be in the 12.5+ volt range. Check your connections also to be sure they are clean and tight. A quick check to see if there is enough juice to crank the engine over is to turn the ignition switch to start and at the same time honk the horn. If the horn blows and the starter does not crank, you probably have a bad starter.
The starter is located on the radiator side of the engine block and is held to the transaxle by 2 bolts. Follow the positive cable to the starter. Hope this helps;
Thanks;
