Error code p0711

Found the code and the manual says Trans Fluid Temp Sensor A CKT Range/Perf. Can't find any broken wires and all fluids are at the proper level. The Vehicle is a 1996 Saturn SL2 Any Ideas?

I have the same problem a P0711 code shows, changed the sensor and it cleared for a day, but the I/M monitors didn't all clear after the drive cycle and on a cold start the code came up again. Sensor is brand new, what are the other possibilities?

P0711

Well, I too had my check engine light come on and P0711. Shifts are still very smooth. I just repaired a shifting problem (a little piece of plastic from the gear shift had fallen off and jammed the button on the side of the shifter). Anyway, I checked trans fluid level (okay) and tomorrow plan on replacing sensor tomorrow. My question is, where is the sensor? Some posts are saying it is inside trans others say it is on top or side of trans, accessible after removing air cleaner housing. Sensor is only about $20 on line. Can anyone tell me if I'm headed in the right direction? thanks

I got stuck in the snow yesterday and now my check engine light is on. im getting codes p0710 and p0711. does this mean the sensor is bad?

P0710 TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMP. SENSOR MALFUNCTION
P0711 TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMP. CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE PROBLEM

P0710 DTC Detection Condition:
Either (a) or (b) is detected for 0.5 sec. or more: (1 trip detection logic)
(c) Temp. sensor resistance is less than 79 W
(d) After engine has been operating for 15 min. or more, resistance at temp. sensor is more than 156 kW

Trouble Area:
1. Open or short in ATF temp. sensor
2. ATF temp. sensor
3. ECM

P0711 DTC Detection Condition:
Both (a) and (b) are detected: (2 trip detection logic)
(a) After 12 sec. of engine start, temp. of atmosphere and that of engine coolant is more than -10°C
(b) After normal driving for over 20 min. and 10 km, ATF temp. is less than 10°C

Hi i have a 1997 saturn wagon automatic miles 112000 on it two days ago my check engine light came on i took it to autozone to get it check they game me 3 codes they are p0404 egr flow ckt p0711 trans...

three things can trigger codes, an actual malfunction of the sensor, a loose timing belt (cam sensor) wiring problems like a defective sensor connector or wiring to the connector and a defective engine control computer, so just throwing part at the problem is very unwise, have GM dealer diagnose the codes and then based on the results you decide what you want to try and replace and what u think is above your skill level and better left to a professional technician.

Getting the following codes from a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am....... PO121 TPS / Pedal Position Sensor A CKT Range / Perf Also, PO341 Camshaft Position Sensor A - Bank 1 CKT Range/Perf. Any thoughts on the

po121 means that there is a problem with the throttle position sensor ( tps). or in the wiring or connector, most likely its the tps that is bad. first remove connection from tps, heres how to test. use an ohms meter and hook a lead to top or bottom terminal of tps. use other probe on center terminal of tps. move throttle plate slowly, if the needle on meter does not move at a smooth pace, then tps is bad. good-luck!!

94 lincoln mark8 trouble codes 113 and 635 what are they?

113 is the IAT (inlet air temp) sensor reading is above maximum voltage -40 deg indicated. This is the sensor that is in the air tube from the air filter box to the throttle body. It will have a black 2 wire connector. This is usually and open ckt like sensor unplugged.

635 is not a good code but the 600 series codes are transmission codes. However if it is a code 637 maybe, then that would make sense because that would be a trans fluid temp exceeds maximum voltage indicated -40 deg and both of these sensors share the same circuit in the GY/R wire, this is the signal return.

If this is the case you may have a broken wire so I would try and overlay that circuit from pin 46 of the PCM to the IAT sensor first and see if that corrects the 113 and it may also back feed that ckt and clear the other code also.
