Car shows no oil on the dip stick Put a liter of oil still no show Lots of oily white smoke 57 reg 1.4 clio

Good day, once had a case where person had his oil checked at garage and no sign of oil on dipstick of his Porsche. I stopped behind him on the freeway to try and offer some help when I saw this massive smoke screen(looked like the car was on fire).
Aparently petrol attendant added oil till it showed on the dipstick. It was after this that the car started smoking. I asked the owner to open the engine cover so that I could check the oil level.
It so happened that the somehow the collar on the dipstick which acts as stop against the dipstick tube had moved from its original position.I Moved the collar to the correct position and held it firmly in place so that it couldn’t move up or down and checked the oil.
The oil was way over the full mark. I advised the owner to drain the excess oil at the first and best opportunity as this was his problem. The result was that the engine could not breathe.

White smoke: White smoke is caused by water and or antifreeze entering the cylinder, and the engine trying to burn it with the fuel. If white smoke is present, check to see if the proper amount of antifreeze is inside the radiator and the overflow bottle. Also check to see if antifreeze has contaminated the engine oil. You can look at the engine oil dipstick, or look at the under side of the engine oil filler cap. If the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, it will have the appearance of a chocolate milkshake. Do not start the engine if the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, as serious internal engine damage can result.

It is also possible to be a engine problem you should immediate visit a car service.

Did you say you just bought the truck? If so, have you ever seen oil on the dipstick or checked the oil. Maybe, the wrong dipstick? Did you buy it from a private party or dealer?

All the oil gone after a 20 mile round trip - has it burnt off or did it leak - that's the question - it's a 1.4 y reg golf - petrol...

I can't imagine that your car is "burning" all that oil in 20 miles. To be sure, remove the spark plugs and look for a lot of ash or really black/oily plugs. I would say more than likely you have an oil leak. Check under your car for a lot of oil streaking. At that rate it should be everywhere underneath.

L reg, petrol, 3 door renault clio. n it squeals like a pig.

That is your trust bearing in your clutch assembly, its a cheap part but involves basically a clutch change to sort out, you can either live with it till the clutch fails or depending on how long its been since it was last changed, bite the bullet and get a whole new clutch fitted.

Lots of back fireing. does not run fast, white smoke

White smoke is generally a sign of buring antifreeze which is a sign of a blown head gasket. Pull your oil dip stick and see if the oil is milky white. Open your radiator cap and start the truck. Do you have lots of bubbling going on or is there a oily residue in the antifreeze? If so these are other signs of a blown head gasket.

How can i put transmission fluid into my car,how much do i put in

Check the Level of the transmission fluid by pulling the Transmission dip stick. The colour of the dip stick is most likely red in colour and you need to check it with the car's engine running and hot. Pull the dip stick out clean it off and check it again. always check the second reading.
To fill the transmission, you need to fill it through the Transmission dip stick tube. Yes your going to need a thin funnel and good luck. Do not over fill the transmission. over filling will cause damage to the transmission.
Best thing is, if you have not done a transmission oil and filter change. Have it done at a Transmission shop and you'll know that the transmission level is fine and have them show you have to check and fill the Transmission. As time goes by and mileage get's high, the fluid will get contaminated and the filter plugged up which would in turn cause a transmission failure.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh and the type of transmission fluid should be in your manuel or stamped on the dip stick.
