I notice that if am on low speed the gear chages from 1 to 2, the car jerks and the shift to the next gear will be longer or evn slips sometimes. this usually happens about 20mins to the drive and if i stop the car and try to shift from "D" to "R", the change is usually jerky. I also observe that if i cut the ignition and switch on again, the problem stops till about 20 mins of driving. I have had the transmisson oil changed severally and the level is alrite but the probl;em persist. One of the gear switch which my mechanic feel is the culprit has been cleaned but the problem only stopped for 2wks. Please help me before i go crazy. Honda transmission is very expensive. Thank you.

You will find a copy of the very recent order by the National Highway Safety Administration which will require Honda to fix this problem for you. Mine just dies too. The problem is the Torque Converter, which burned your tranny fluid and caused your transmission to fail.NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 04V176000

I wish I had better news for you, my friend..
The problem affects all cars with the V-6 3.0 engine and the five-speed automatic transmission. Â Honda used Torque Converters in this transmission with substandard friction material. Â Somewhere between 40-70,000 miles, from the information I have gathered, this friction material begins to come loose from the Torque Converter. Â When it does, it clogs the internal filter, (which unfortunately is unserviceable, and the resulting blockage causes the transmission to overheat..usually resulting in the destruction of the transmission.
Honda knows about the problem, but refuses to help it's customers by taking responsibility for the problem they have created for us.
I personally had this problem, and the resulting damage cost me almost US$3000 to repair.
If your transmission has not yet gone completely, I would suggest you stop driving the vehicle and remove and rebuild the existing transmission now, before even more internal damage is done. Â I suggest this, rather than simply buying an already rebuilt transmission, because you have no way of knowing the quality of the parts used to rebuild an off-the-shelf rebuilt transmission, and ylou might end up installing a new transmission, only to be in the same situation again in another 60,000 miles.
Rebuild the existing case..and make sure your mechanic has all of this information, so he can use only time proven parts suppliers as he rebuilds your transmission.
MAKE SURE YOU WRITE A STRONG LETTER TO HONDA CHASTISING THEM FOR THIS...AND DON'T EVER BUY ANY OF THIER PRODUCTS EVER AGAIN. Â TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT HONDA'S COMPLETE DISCONCERN FOR THIER CUSTOMER'S PROBLEMS.
