More like what will happen if you continue to drive. get it fixed ASAP. I had that problem and you could lose control and the tires could go both ways and you crash.

SOURCE: Remove Upper/Lower Ball Joints

The only way is to press them out with a press, and press the new ones in. I have seen people try to press them out with a vise and a socket against the balljoint and it did not work, a local machine shop or repair shop should have a press.

SOURCE: upper and lower ball joints

Your better off have it done bt a tech because you need a press to press them out and in. Also you will have a warranty witk the work. You want to be safe messing with your steering and suspension. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: How to change ball joints on 1997 2500 4x4 dodge diesel

Not hard, you'll need a special socket to get the axle nut off and getting the bearing out of the spindle is usually a real chore. Since it sounds like the spindle is already out, you might be able to do it in a press.

To get the ball joints out of the spindle, drive them out with a hammer. If you need to get the ball joint out of the axle, strike the axle next to where the ball joint taper is with a large hammer. That will usually distort the axle material enough (for a split second) to let the tappered section loose.

Fallowed manual driver side drive axel will not come out do I remove lower ball joint

Didn't your manual say so? Usually the ball joint is disconnected from the lower control arm, so the steering knuckle, hub, and whole wheel assembly can be swung out far enough to slip the axle out of the wheel hub.

Remove axle

if you need to remove the axle from the spindle side then you need to take the axle nut off which you have to remove the rim n tire and it will be dead center approx 1in size nut or bigger not sure exact size

second have to remove the nut on the lower ball joint n seperate the lower control arm and strut. will need a ball joint fork which you can get at any parts store and a pry bar to push down on control arm once ball joint is broken loose to seperate the strut. this will allow you to push the axle back troungh the spindle to remove it.

last but not least where the axel goes in to the transmission you will need a small pry bar to pop it out from transmission. jus put it between axle n transmission and apply pressure till it comes out. the axel has a oring style clip which holds it in place so not able to pull it out by hand. caution when you pull the axel it will leak out some fluid so make sure you have a drain pan .

to install jus follow the process backward jus make sure the axel pops back in place securely other wise when you go to drive it you risk it poping out. good luck n hope this helps you

I need to replace my half shaft (Drivers Side).

Remove the lock nut on the wheel, Big nut in the center,Get the tie rod loose and lower ball joint all out of the way. You have to pry the axel out of the trans, best done with a long flat bar, between the inner joint and the flatest part of the trans. Like you are popping it out. There is a circlip that holds the joint in like a spring. careful not to dammage the trans seal.

How do i change the rh diff axle seal on a hyundia accent 2002 auto

place the vehicle on a lift (preferred) and remove the RH front wheel. Remove the driver axel retaining nut (1 1/4" nut) and washer. Remove the lower ball joint retaining nut (17mm nut). Using a 10 oz hammer, strike the nuckle where the lower ball joint is attached to it (be careful not to strike the grease boot) while applying downward force on the lower control arm until it pops loose. Once loose, pry down on the lower control are while simultaneously moving the strut to one side untill the joint is clear/away from the knuckle. Now remove the drive axel from the the spline of the hub bearing. Using a pry bar, pop loose the axel from the transmission differential. Installation of the new axel is in reverse order.

How to replace 1996 dodge neon cv joints

Remove the wheel and the lower ball joint from the spindle. It will also make it easier if you remove the tie rod end. There is a large hut at the tire end of the axel. Remove that nut and washer. Take a rubber or brass Hammer and hit the end of the axel to push it through the bearing assembly. If it is really stuck, put the nut back on so that the nut is even with the end of the axel and uses a heavier hamer to break it loose. Once you break it loose, pull back on the rotor while pushing the axel to remove it from the hole it passes through. (Becarefull with the brake hose. If it is pulling too tight it might be best to remove the caliper and use a hanger to suspend it until you are done.) You will need a really BIG screw driver or a pry bar. Put the pry bar between the case and the hub of the axel and push in quickly and firmly to pop it out of the trans axel. It might take a few tries. If it resists look for a ridge and put a big screw drive on the ridge and use a hammer to pop it out.

Once it is out, reverse directions. Do not use the hammer on the new axel any where.put the end into the trans axel as far as it will go and then put the other end through the wheel bearing. Use the leverage you have with the rotor and bearing side to push the axel into the trans. You should hear it snap into place. Before you put the ball joint back on go to the trans axel side and use that pry bar and gently try to remove. if it resists it is seated, if it slides out, you need to seat it again. ONce you are sure it is firmly seated back into the trans, you can bump the ball joint and tie rod back together.

Good luck and be careful
