97 Volvo S80 heater works but will only come out of dash vents

Hi,
These are usually related to a FUSE. In the OWNER's MANUAL look for the FUSE section and see if the non-working devices are listed on the same fuse, and where the FUSE panel is located. Fuses can be purchased @ an Auto Parts, Hardware store or the dealer.

It could also be a relay for these devices. Look online in the Volvo Forums for more info.

check fuses in car and under the hood

You will need to replace the Acuator for the Internal Baffle inside your dash for the Driver's side A/C vent. The Actuator is not opening or closing the baffle to give you hot or cold air.

you cant that has to be done be the dealer.plugging a used dash or any electrical part that has internal programming into your car can corrupt the vehichles software causing all sorts of stuff.also i dont know if a used part can be programmed. all the parts have the vin# stored in them.

sounds like vent flap valve wire has come off (under dash beried in plastic cowling.....

I have the same car and had the same problem. The inside air intake for the heater system is located above the passenger's feet. An empty plastic bag got sucked in there and kept the door from moving properly. I had to take off a few panels, then one on the vent. Once I removed the bag, no problem.

I think there is a fuse for that in your fuse panel. check your owners manual for the location of the fuses and I think it may be burnt out. Cheap fix if so :)

Look up in the vents with a flashlight, some times an errent object placed on the dash finds its way down the defroster vent and into the plenum. These items tend to keep the doors that dirrect the air from moving.

Check the dash light dimmer. It's usually combined with the dome light.
