Question about Chevrolet Cavalier

Car Revs up & down until it gets warmed up (intermittently)

Sometimes I start my car she runs fine, sometimes I start her she revs up & down like it's shifting up & down until it warms up. Once it warms up speedometer works & it stops reving. Anyone know what it could be? Side note - why is the speedometer working intermittently as well? Once everything warms up it works fine.

Ck'd vacuum lines - replaced one - still does it. Replaced fuel injectors a while ago, so don't think that's the issue. Idle Valve good. All suggestions below are quite old - any fresh ideas?

try to add some lucas aditive to it, if does not solve the problem then your reverse might be about to brake, but this lucas aditive try to add with a transmission tune up at same time

Sounds like you have an air leak from one of the vacuum lines. Does the engine idle normally when at normal running temperature?

You have a bad air intake manifold gasket. If it runs idling high, take a can of brake cleaner and spray it on the air intake manifold by the firewall. Spray it right where the air intake bolts on. There are 8 10mm bolts or nuts there. When you spray it while idling, the revs will come down. This makes sure that is the problem before you go any farther. Revving when warmed up cold its fine

air leak on the intake the gasket may be leaking. sometimes just needs the top bolting back down.... letting more air in than needed. vibration can cause the bolts to come lose.

High rev at cold (winter cold!) idle

Your toyota technician should know what a "cold starting solenoid" is. It is the little thing that works your throttle until the motor warms up and something else takes over. I'd suggest going to another technician.
