Instument cluster where should I shop to get the price on one. I have GMC jimmy My mechanic told me that the cluster in the jimmy is not the same as the on in the blazer is this true
The cluster will be setup for your vehicle I work at a GM dealer and to replace a cluster we need all the info off the cluster including the mileage to order one that will be compatible. A dealer would be your best option

No there isn't a memory battery ! What are you taking about ? The main battery under the hood supplies battery power to the PCM , BCM , SRS , EBCM , IPC , etc... with key off . If your having a instrument cluster problem , What is it . You probably need a new instrument cluster ,
Change the switch itself if it drives normal then randomally kicks into 4 lo/4 hi i had the same problem and a transmission shop told me it was the vaccum and the transfer case but one of my mechanic friends told me that it was my switch and shops only tell you other things for the money. Try changing the switch.
Early GM digital gauge clusters are unreliable. 99.9% of the time there is a problem with the cluster itself. There are a few companies that rebuild these clusters. Search "1992 Jimmy digital cluster" on eBay or google, most company will help diagnose if you need a new cluster over the phone. They also have warrantees.
have you tried putting it in neutral and trying it. is your solenoid on the stater clicking, if not i would checkand make sure your nuetral safety switch isnt bad if it is clicking i would make sure the starter isnt hung up in the flywheel or could be a possibility the starter is bad
Yes it is a common problem for these. But you should look at it yourself to make sure this is the problem.Just open the flap under the vehicle in front and use a light. You can see the filter and the hoses. Also look around the adapter area on the engine. There is a gasket and seal that leak in this area also.Hope this helps.Good luck.
unfortunately your bearing assembly is a sealed unit and you have to purchase it as a complete part. they do have a way to change out the bearing at a shop, however the labor cost involved would most certainly be alot more than a replacement it's self. I have come across this problem many times and it's not as easy to switch them out as you have been told. i hope this helps. (note) to repalce them on your vehicle if you don't do the work yourself have a small shop do it not a dealer shop. the cost will be alot less. the labor time should be no more than 2 hrs. that is roughly about no more than 120- 150 dollars for the labor . if the place you take it to quotes you way more than that take it somewhere else... good luck please rate this
I'm told and read a sun shell may be broke. Common problem for this vehicle. Shop will possibly rebuild and use aftermarket kit parts to correct problems the transmission had originally. Cost is probably between $1300 to 1600 to repair. Good luck I got the same problem on a 97 Jimmy and 3 shops said the same thing.
