Have you checked to see if the alternator is charging, and if there is something that is draining the battery overnight ?

Sounds like a dead battery, the fact that you were able to drive it all the way home after being jump started means that your alternator is working fine, but as soon as you turned it off there is no way to restart it since the battery is bad. Take out the battery and go have it tested at your local auto parts store to be sure, but that is most likely the cause.

My daughter 2004 Kia won't hold a battery charge.

voltage regulator. it may be in the alternator, or remote mounted. ((the alternator can be charging, but if voltage regulator is'nt working then it won't allow voltage to get back to the battery to keep it charged

If my vehicle receices a jump start and it won't hold a charge , what is wrong with it ?

Depends.
If the alternator is charging, and the battery will not hold a charge, I would suspect the battery.
If the alternator is not charging the battery, I would look at the fuseable links and connections.

The car was running fine one day then the next day it would not start. We tried jumping it thinking the battery might be dead and it still would niot start. The car has power until we take the jumper...

Sounds like you have a toasted battery or alternator. Have you performed a load test on the battery? Have you tried to charge the battery? First remove the battery and charge it externally from the vehicle. If the battery won't hold a charge, or won't hold a charge of 12 volts, replace it. Once you have the vehicle started, test the operation of the alternator. It should be putting out at least 13 volts back to the battery to keep it charged - if it is putting less than 13 volts or more than 16 volts, replace the alternator.

Daughter called me ..car wont start. checked battery at Autozone...it is good. someone stopped to help them and bang on startere and it starts up. Bad starter. Starter replaced. Next day daughter...

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.

good luck

I try to jump start my 2001 vw beetle but it just keeps turning over and won't start. the last time it did it was bogging and died. ever since it just turns over but wont start.

sounds like your battery may be bad. take it to autozone to have it charged and tested for hold-charge. takes about an hour or so. and its free.

The car won't start let alone keep running. The battery light was on for awhile but the car was running fine. Then I was driving and it just started sputtering and died and even when I jump it it only...

Get the battery & the alternator checked (Autozone, O'reilly's or even Pep Boys can do that for free). If the alternator is out or going out, it's not charging your battery - that means everything electrical in your car is now trying to run directly off the battery & draining it (it doesn't take long - especially if the lights or A/C is on). If those check out ok, take it into a mechanic & have them run a diagnostic - you may have a relay out. Good Luck.
