1985 Grand Marquis won't start

85 Grand Marquis won't start, changes all ignition components except ignition switch. Also, timing was changed before problem started... is the distributor's timing to blame or the ignition switch? Fuel is plenty in the c.f.i., even with a full batery the car still wont start. All fuses are good, a possibility of fauly ground, or bad sensor?

No..i also have an 85 gr. marquis with the 5.0 engine... i changed the starter solenoid located next to the battery on the passenger side firewall of the car.. if it clicks then its either the solenoid or the starter..those are hard to kill cars with good grounds..check the solenoid..

My 1985 grand Marquis won't start I can pour gas

Take the gas filter off. Should be located near the front of the carbeurator, take off the air cleaner and look for it, it takes 2 wrenches to take it off, a little gas may spill out but not much and replace it, however there is a strong possibility that he gas pump is out if the filter is fine. Hope this helps

I have an 85 Mercury Grand Marquis and I have no tail, brake of back up lights or rear directional. When I turn on the headlight switch, I get 12 volts at the tail / Brake light (1157) at all three wires....

You may have a defective turn signal switch, all these circuits run through the switch and on occasion I have repaired a Ford or Two with this same symptom when I was working for a dealer in the middle 80's.

Will a 1985 mercury grand marquis transmission work in a 1979 mercury grand marquis

I think that over the course of 6 years that the transmission would have changed.

Speedometer out of calibration by 20mph at 55mph.

It's a cable. If the car doesn't have the same size tires that it came with from the factory, the speedometer will be off. The only way to calibrate it would be to change the the cable drive gears in the transmission, but I have no idea what the gear ratio would be or where you would get the gears. That car came with either P215/75R14 or P205/75R15 tires.
