I have an '89 Pathfinder. Recently both the temp. guage and the fuel guage have been acting up, not working intermittantly. They are apparently connected at some point. I've checked the main fuse block, didn't see a problem. Is there another spot to check, does this symptom point to any one particular component I can replace ?
Check the gauge cluster. Some of the older Nissans have a tendency to get a type of corrosion on the circuit board that can cause shorts. Also, some of the soldered points can come loose. If you arent comfortable looking at it yourself, may just be better to swap with a used one and keep your fingers crossed.
I had to get my gauge cluster worked on for my 93 300ZX.
Check your thermostat.

The problem is obviously elec....as both guages come on and go off together
No effect with how the car runs, I'm guessing its some short. I supose replacing the instrument cluster might fix it, but was hoping to find something alittle less work as I am forced to use it to get to work with the blizzard we've got going on up here in Anacortes, WA.
