Check your transmission fluid level as soon as possible.
If you are experience hard transmission shifts, it is possible that the only problem is a low transmission fluid level. Low transmission fluid level can change the operating pressures of the transmission as well as reduce the amount of lubricant present between the clutches and bands and raise transmission temperatures. All these things can cause hard or jerky shifting. You need to identify why the transmission has a low fluid level and refill it as soon as possible.
first get a trans flush and fill if it keeps doing it then it is time for a new trans because the band are slipping in it and shift module is going out
probably why the wire was disconnected in the first place
talking with an accredited transmission specialist shop will give you clues as to if the solenoid replacement will fix the fault before you splash the cash
These are very sensitive to the adjustment of the throttle position cable that goes from the carb linkage, or throttle position linkage. Make sure that is set correctly. If it is set correctly and it still doesn't work correctly take it to a good transmission shop on the 700R4. Had to have mine done 4 times and it still isn't totally right. Mine is behind a strong Mark IV big block.
The throttle valve cable controls the transmission pressure. Adjusting this cable is the most important step when installing a 700R4 or 200R4 transmission.
Unless you want to do a lot of work i would find another 4l80E or rebuild yours. 700r4 is not electronic shift and you have no connection for the shift cable. And if you get a electronic 700r4 (4L60E) The plugs are completely different and you would need to change the whole engine harness and ecm.
No there are different 700R4 transmission, well that not quite true. The 700R4 had many jobs to matted to Corvettes to SUVs, the internals are where the differences were in the 700R4 such as the servo's and boost valve which can be easily replaced. Best thing to do is to got to a Transmission shop that can build a transmissions for your Corvette or buy a replacement 700R4 for your year of Corvette. That is why the shift points and firmness are different in a Corvette then a Cadillac while they both have 700R4 in the 1990's. Be bad for a Corvette to shift like Grandma's Cadillac going to play dingo. Good luck and hope this helps.
The 700R4 is controlled by vacuum lines and throttle cable kick down linkage (TV) and need to be re calibrated to the engine as to being 4.3 or 5.0 to 5.7. Best thing to do is to get a transmission shop that knows how to custom install transmission like a speed shop.
The TV cable adjustment on the 700R4 needs to be perfect. TV cable is used to set part throttle shift points, line pressure and if not set right will burn up the clutch plates due to low line pressure.
Good luck and hope this helps. you going to need tools that most of us don't have, like to be able to measure and adjust the line pressure at different RPM. If you need more information, keep me posted and be glad to help.
try some transmedic .put a little in tranny .try to take out some fluid add it in dont over fill transmission .put about a half of bottle in it. it wiil loosen those stuck shift valves.
