SOURCE: purge solenoid location

which vehicle are you actually looking for the purge solenoid on? you have 2 vehicles listed in your question. i'll answer both, lol

the locations are described as if you are looking at the engine from the front of the car with hood open.

on the blazer:

it is located on the left side of the intake manifold just under and behind the throttlebody. it is a canister looking device.

on the silverado:

it is located on the intake manifold on the left side in about the same spot as the blazer. providing the silverado has the 5.3 or 5.7 liter engine. if it also has the 4.3 then obviously it will be the same.

hope this helps!

SOURCE: check engine light is on

Go to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. The scanner will tell you exactly what is wrong. Now sometimes a Code will show a problem in the Purge system and its just a loose gascap. But other times it can be a small leak in a vent hose.

The Autoparts people can help you find the problem and sell you some of the parts to correct it. After you add a new part you need to clear the onboard computer with a scanner or unhook the NEG cable for 10 minutes.

SOURCE: 2007 chevy tahoe 4.8 emissions purge/valve

In the rear up high near fuel tank or along frame rail,
among the EVAP System Components

Need a diagram of system to find & test components

Really need a scan tool & EVAP Smoke machine,
to test & find out, if you have anything that doesn't work

I assume you know codes do not tell you what is wrong
or what to replace, vehicles do not self diagnose themselves
and likely never will

Where is the evap vent solenoid fuse located on 2005 nissan altima

It doesn't have a "fuse" specific to the purge valve solenoid. What he is telling you is that you need to have this circuit troubleshot. Either the PCM the wiring going to the purge valve solenoid, or the purge valve solenoid itself is malfunctioning.

This requires a scanner, a digital volt ohm meter and some knowledge of when the purge valve actuates and under what conditions.

The car must be running and operating at cruising speed before the PCM sends a command to the purge valve to operate. Some scanners have the ability to send a request to the PCM to actuate the purge valve, but that scanner is usually a dealer's or equivalent.

How do you replace the evap. purge valve solenoid on 2005 kia sportage

The canister purge valve is a computer controlled solenoid valve that allows any stored fuel vapors in the charcoal canister to be recycled back into the engine combustion process. The valve is typically located on or near the throttle body. The canister purge valve is controlled by the power train control module (PCM). The canister purge valve is closed each time the power train computer runs the OBD-II (Onboard Diagnostic Generation II) EVAP monitoring self-test.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Code says evaporator purge solenoid

Which code specifically? Do not assume you need a new solenoid. Our recommendation will depend on the specific code and some troubleshooting results. I usually recommend checking over all the EVAP vacuum lines and the gas cap too whenever there is a purge valve code. Check the vacuum lines at the cannister in the left rear bumper. I will paste info on the purge solenoid below.

Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid

Description & Operation
The duty cycle EVAP canister purge solenoid (DCP) regulates the rate of vapor flow from the EVAP canister to the intake manifold. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) operates the solenoid.
During the cold start warm-up period and the hot start time delay, the PCM does not energize the solenoid. When de-energized, no vapors are purged. The PCM de-energizes the solenoid during open loop operation.
The engine enters closed loop operation after it reaches a specified temperature and the time delay ends. During closed loop operation, the PCM cycles (energizes and de-energizes) the solenoid 5 or 10 times per second, depending upon operating conditions. The PCM varies the vapor flow rate by changing solenoid pulse width. Pulse width is the amount of time that the solenoid is energized. The PCM adjusts solenoid pulse width based on engine operating condition.
Removal & Installation
The duty cycle evaporative (EVAP) canister purge solenoid is located in the engine compartment near the brake master cylinder.

  1. Disconnect electrical connector at solenoid.
  2. Disconnect vacuum lines at solenoid.
  3. Lift solenoid slot from mounting bracket for Removal & Installation.

To Install:
  1. Position solenoid slot to mounting bracket.
  2. Connect vacuum lines to solenoid. Be sure vacuum lines are firmly connected and not leaking or damaged. If leaking, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set with certain emission packages.
  3. Connect electrical connector to solenoid.
