Sounds like a wiring problem at the gas tank.
I would check for voltage and ground for the fuel pump and the sending unit for the gauge.

SOURCE: Gas gauge not working

Hi,
This sounds like the sender unit in the fuel tank is worn or possibly a corroded/ bad earth from the unit itself.
There should be an inspection plate above the fuel tank removal of this should reveal the sender unit and connections, if not can you see on top of it? make sure all connections are clean and not gunged up with corrosion. Try spraying Wd40 or similar around the area whilst wiggling the plugs/wires.

SOURCE: lost power andquit. wont start

2 possible problems here. remember to always look at the inexpensive first.
That would be the ignition control module, which is held on by 2 screws beneath the distributor cap. the dielectric grease used in mounting drys out and causes it to over heat and burn out. cost about 35 bucks...10 mins. to install.
that is what i think your issue is...as fords from88-92 are notorious for it.

second possibility is that you have a bad ECM...and though takes 10 mins to install will set you back aboy 125 bucks.

The battery is good but it wont start

It may be the solenoid (electro-magnetic clamp) that engages the starter motor with the flywheel to start the car. Unfortunately, this usually involves replacing the entire starter.

Ran fine last nite, today engine wont attempt to turn over, tried relays and fuses

These are very common to have ignition switch problems. First observe the lights and gauges on the dash for normal operation.Checking for security light flashing [this will indicate if the lock housing transponder failed] I would test the starter next.

Car wont start, put 8 gallons of gas,new fuel filter and gas gauge still shows empty.checked fuses, fine.is thier a fuel reset button.

No, but if you put fuel and the gauge shows empty, then you have a loose connector near the gas tank. If car doesnt start, then it is for sure that the connector of the fuel pump is loose. Reconnect the fuel pump and you are gonna be fine.

SINGLE MOM CAR WONT START!!!I DON"T HAVE TIME 4 THIS!!!!

so you turn the key and the starter does nothing... i would suggest that you attempt to start it while someone hits the starter with a hammer... not that gently but don't break the starter either.

If it suddenly turns over you need a new starter. and right away because using a hammer only works a few times.

Incidentally it was minus 20 here last nite lol
