Just had a rebuilt transmission installed in 2000 chevy 1500, 4 wheel drive, 5.3 eng., 4L60 ******.

This was rebuilt by a dependable trans. shop. Its shifting hard 1st-2nd and slipping 3-4. If tow haul is engaged the shift from 1-2 is really delayed but 3-4 seems great. If I take off hard and keep pushing it thru all shifts it seems to shift fine. I had a dealership test the computer and it checked out fine. If it was solenoid or valve body issues wouldn't the truck be throwing some codes out.

I think the people that rebuilt it, will have to pull it back out

The trans shop that rebuilt it are not the ones who installed it. I just thought the computer should be throwing some codes. The battery went dead during all this and had to be replaced. I just wondered if it could be an electrical issue.

SOURCE: 1st and 2nd shift error on code reader in trans

Shift error codes are enabled not only if the solonoids are faulty, does your scanner show you the solonoids switching? you could have a wiring fault. It could also be the pcm not allowing the solonoids to activate. These complicated systems are very difficult to diagnose for us profesionals with all the scanners and machines we have. Find a transmission shop in your area with a system to drive the vehicle bypassing the computor system, this will determine electrical or internal trans failure. But before you do anything check your conections from the transmission to the pcm. Also all the engine conectors and earth straps.

SOURCE: Have 03 silverado V6 1500 50k miles no shift 2-3

Unless there's other circumstances the shop should have checked the codes first. From there they should have followed a basic diagnostic route such as making sure it has fluid pressure in all valve shift circuits and the correct pressure. But, it's most likely that you need a trans and a long test drive after doing the valves would have gave them a clear direction to go in if the problem is not interrmitant,

SOURCE: 1997 Chevy 1500 P/U 4x4 small V8. Transmission shifting issue.

you may be confusing the torque converter clutch engagement with o.d. this trans has a problem with the T.C.C. regulator valve wearing out the valve body bore. this will cause the converter clutch to engage only sometimes or not at all. this will set a P1870 code in the control module. when this code is stored in the controller, ( check engine light may or may not be on), it increases the pressure in the transmission causing the 1-2 shift to be harsh. ask a local tranny shop to scan the vehicle ( most will do this for free) if this is the problem they can either fix your valve body (sonnax parts) or replace it with an upgraded valve body. hope this helps

Will 1995 4l60e ecu, lockup a 700r4 torque converter?

Your best fix would be to install a hydralic lock-uo kit in the transmission. This would be best done by a good trans shop. The lock-up systems between a 4l60 and a4l60e are quite different and would shorten torgue converter life.Hope this helps you.

I just put a transmission from a 1994 chevy 1500 onto my 1993 chevy 1500. it fit perfectly but the wiring harness is different. is there an adapter for this application? if so, and i install it will i need...

what color is the inside of the trans connector on the trans itself? I believe the 93/94s were a tan yellowish color. 1995 and up are different and won't work - electronics are different

If they have exactly the same amount of solenoids, you could switch the harnesses.... but it sounds like you have a 95 or newer trans which would have one more solenoid

If you have no reverse then yes it needs to be rebuilt. as far as the whining it could be in one of the differentials. or in trans? just depends on where you hear it
