1st check your coolant level, if it's low, it won't circulate thru the heater core, and u will have little or no heat (easy fix!). If that isn't the problem, what does your engine temp gauge indicate? Is it running @ normal or low? How long does it take for the engine to reach operating temp? Let me know, as it could be a thermostat problem. If it's stuck open, the engine won't reach operating temp, and u won't have heat. There are a couple of other possibilities, let me know what u find with this info, these are the 2 easiest and common problems.

Why would I not have heat? 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 truck. motor temp gets to 190 degrees after replacing faulty thermostat. but the heater don't blow hot air. blows cool to warm. everything moves and...

Stacey
sounds like your blower motor is OK so either the hot water is not getting through the heater core, or the air is not being routed across the heater core. If the hoses or core are blocked, that would do it or if an air door is not allowing the air to the core.

Hopefully it won't come to core removal, but this video should illustrate what is going on. There are also videos for unplugging the core. good luck

Started out with cold air coming out the vents

I'm no 'expert' but it sounds like possibly 2 different problems. Your heat comes from warm/hot coolant circulating through the heater core, and the fan blowing air through/over it. If your thermostat is not opening the coolant won't circulate. Thermostat is a not too difficult or costly starting place. No air flow leads me to think you have a blower motor issue, perhaps start with the fuse. Hope this helps.
