2001 Saturn L300 security issue

I have a 2001 Saturn L300 with about 90k miles on it. At first I was having issues starting the car. The engine would crank but not turn over and all of the other electrical components worked just fine. I noticed my security light was flashing so I read up and found the 30 min relearn process. After doing the restart process the car started fine but roughly 2 hours later the car wouldn't start again. I again did the password reset and the car started and ran for about 4 days. I tried to start the car today and once again it won't start and the security light is on. What could be causing this issue? Thank you for any comments you may have.

I had the problem and when i took it in they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to fix it.. It is the security system failing. i did a ton of research and found a module that u can install yourself that will bypass it and allow the car to start every time.. i did mine like 5 years ago and i havent had an issue since.. you car is on the list year make and model for having this problem i guess its really common in GM vehicles .. Check out this website they have great customer service and if for some reason it does not work they will refund you 100% of your money!! I hope this helps ya i know how frustrating it is.

SOURCE: 2001 Saturn SC2 Electrical issue

I had the same problem in a 1997 SC2.  Turns out that finicky/broken door lock/unlock switches were causing an intermittent short.
I removed the 20A fuses to these locks in the switch panel under the radio.  Problem fixed.

Alot of the time the anti theft security can actually disable your starter. Check to see if there is a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a little picture of a car with a lock thru it. This would be a dead give away of the security problem. Check out this link for info and DO IT YOURSELF solutions to this problem.

My Saturn L300 (2003) starts sometimes and doesnt others. when it does start sometimes it will just die. i have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, crank sensor and the transmission control module. my...

If it starts up easily when the engine is cold and has a hard time starting (or won't start) when the engine is warm a lot of times it's related to the ground cable(s). If the problem is related to the security system I would think it would be an all or nothing kind of thing (ie. it wouldn't start and then die). Another thing to check would be your fuel pressure to see if it's actually staying at the correct pressure after the car starts.

Car stopped running, engine light on the dash was on about 200 mi

there is no way to know for sure without some troubleshooting and since your engine light is lit which im assuming is the check engine light you can have someone with an obd scanner pull the codes and go from there that is pretty much your only option at this point
