audi a4 2002 seems as if blower direction system not moving to windscreen

  • 48rob Jan 28, 2009

Side vents work OK but front of screen vents do not. This is not a blown fuse as the blower is still working as are all the other functions on the air con unit. One day it was working - the next day not!

I've had the same problem with my 52 plate A4 1.9tdi. Had the problem since I bought it. No air from the demister and when I turn the ignition off it sounds like a vent valve is opening and closing continusley, this continues for about five mins then stops. Did what other members did, removed the glove box and tested all the valve opening motors by putting on the front, bottom them windscreen demisters. The motor connected to the green linkage arm (demister) didn't move at all while the other two did. Took the motor off, opened it up via 3 or 4 plastic clips and doused it in electrical contact cleaner and the moving plastic parts in silicone spray. 'Tapped' the silver motor a few times with a screwdriver, waited for it to dry and re-assembled. The demister sprang into life when I reconnected to the green plastic arm. I also sprayed all 3 linkages with silicon spray and I can hardly hear any of the movement any more and the valve opening/closing noise when I turn the engine off is gone too. All in all it took about two hours

What makes heater suddenly stop working but ac works fine

I am having an issue with my car !
My drain pipe for the AC is blocked again .
How do I konw because the carpet is wet near the centre hub of car under the dash.
My AC works but I noticed the heater not working due to the water sitting on top of the heater. I also noticed the demister was blowing cold and water vapour. So my demister on the front window was fogging up the windscreen .
Get a mechanic to check the AC drain pipe !

2015 carens, its either front windscreen demisting OR car heating, but I need both. How to fix?

If you set the temperature to a high temperature when demisting, it should still provide heated air, just not through the dash vents aimed at you. Is that not sufficient? Does your car has seat heaters?

No vacuum at air con vent control knob in vu commodore

check small vacuum hose on rear of square inlet manifold top that goes throught firewall ( bulkhead ) is not cracked or has come off
it goes into cab near heater hoses. this is the vacuum supply hose
if you have no vacuum the heater controls default to go to windscreen. also check the black & white plastic little round one way valve for leaks & operation
also check vacuum hose that goes onto heater tap that is in right inner gaurd under brake master cylinder area for leaks and that its on the heater tap valve
if they are all ok check inside do you hear any hissing noises behind dash controls or down at front centre console area?

Heater not working

The thermostat may need to be replaced. If its stuck open, you wont get much heat. Another option is to change the thermostat to a higher degree 190 or something like that.....
