Check under the carpet on passenger side for the reset button on the fuel shutoff switch-only supposed to activate in a collision but sometimes it goes bad-think it's about a $40 part if you need a new one [which you usually don't]

SOURCE: 93 ford ranger 2.3L replace

The 2.3 engine is well known for plugged oil lines in the camshaft. You didn't say which cylinder isn't firing but if its number 3 or 4, you may well have a worn cam lobe. This will not show up on a compression test since the valve can't open due to the worn cam lobe. You will have to remove the valve cover and watch the valves move while turning the motor with a wrench on the harmonic damper/crank pulley bolt. Expect a repair bill in the $600 - $800 range. New cam and valve job.

these engines did have some exh valve issues, service bulletin 05-26-3. one other thing to verify is that the cam synronizer (CMP) is correctly installed. if its not right on, its way off.

2007 ford wl starting in morning can't for a while than starts n when starts it miss for a while than ok

Check your spark plugs and leads then check coil packs. Look for heavy deposits at plug tips. Could be you need a new air cleaner. Theses checks always come first....then move through to checking fuel flow, is there a minor fuel block, is the fuel pump performing correctly ? Etc.... Simple first..... Red.

93 talon tsi getting fuel and spark car cranks but wont start

I would try making sure spark plug wires are put on in the correct firing order. This is a common mistake in tune ups. Most intake manifolds have the firinging order cast in. Plug gaps correct? I cant come too far away.

1996 Ford Ranger won't start

I had the same problem , and if you read your book, it could be the fuel pump shut off switch, mine was bad and went from on to off position, its usually under the passenger side of the dash, look underneath at the "top" of the carpet, and you'll see a little red switch, check to see if the thing is plugged in , if it is , check to see if the switch is all the way down. i had to get a new one , sombody must have kicked mine and made it broken, but i got a new one and it worked fine
