If your starter isnt 'clicking' suspect bad starter relay, possible bad starter solonid, could be a dead battery, could be an open circuit between the ignition and the starter relay. Start with checking the battery, then the relay, solonoid, then check wirining and connections.

Why isnt my starter getting power

fusible link burned out on single( small wire terminal) replace that wire/fusible link wire
tip

My car wont turn over

If you are trying to start your car but when you turn the key all you hear is a faint click then this is a good indication that the starter motor needs replacing.
If how ever you need to get the car started then you can try the following:
1. locate the starter motor and give it a few hits with a hammer this may then enable you to start the car, but remember this isnt a permanent fix and could leave you stuck as it dont always work.
2 get someone to help you push the car whilst its in gear push it then release the clutch so the engine turns over with the ignition switched on if your going fast enough the engine should then fire up if not and the engine just turns over then give the starter another try on the key and you should find it will then start, remember this isnt permanent fix so get the starter replaced as soon as you can.

If when you turn the key you dont hear any clicking noise and you have tried the starter motor as listed above then their is a good chance you either have a flat battery in the key fob if you have central locking or it could even mean that your imobiliser is playing up if this is the case then their isnt much you can do yourself as they are not servicable and would require a garage to look at the fault.

1997 GMC Jimmy car wont turn over when instument panel warning lights don't come on. After a mechanic replaced my fuel pump. What did he do?

have you tried putting it in neutral and trying it. is your solenoid on the stater clicking, if not i would checkand make sure your nuetral safety switch isnt bad if it is clicking i would make sure the starter isnt hung up in the flywheel or could be a possibility the starter is bad

When I try to start my 91 Buick Le Sabre all I get is a click sound. The batt is fine all lights work. I replaced the starter and still the same problem.

please check whether 1 cell of the battery isnt dead .all the lights will still work without 1 cell but the battery wont take the load of the starter.the click sound is the starter relay energising . REPLACE THE BATTERY .

1998 Toyota Camry --- car intermittenly won't start -- doesn't click like a bad starter but simply won;t turnover like the battery is dead - eventually it starts - brand new battery 1 month old??

When the bushes in a starter get worn, it can cause the armature to rub on the magnetic poles (poleing) This can cause the starter turn slow or not at all
The sintered metal bushes are like bearings. Not to be confused with carbon brushes which are the electrical connectors.
When a starter clicks, it is the solenoid you can hear.supplying power through the brushes.

A starter that is poleing, often stops in a place where it isnt rubbing, and works fine the next start.
There can be other problems with a starter , perhaps one of the brushes is sticking, or the solenoid.
When it happens a tap with a hammer on the starter or solenoid, while a friend turns the key, is enough to get it working( this isnt a fix but might get you started in an emergency)

There is also the possibility of a loose or dirty cable connection, from when the new battery was installed

My car wont start battery is not dead, but wont turn over?

if the battery is fine check if you hear a clicking noise coming from the starter motor when you turn the key to try and start the engine.
If you hear this noise then this is a good indication that the selenoid has failed meaning you need to replace the starter motor.

You can give the starter motor a hit with a piece of wood as some times this will get the starter motor working just to start the car but this isnt a permanent fix and could leave you stuck if you used the car.

Now if the starter motor isnt clicking but you hear a clicking noise coming from either the cars fuse box or the ecu when you turn the key to start the car then this would indicate a problem with the imobiliser this would need testing using a diagnostic machine as their is no other way of testing this to find out if its at fault.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Starter

Check the starter you just installed. compare it very well with the former one and do a scan on the vehicle.

Went through not too deep water car stalled , replaced air filter and checked batterie car clicks and lights dim when you try to start.

Well if its clicking that means your starter isnt working. You can try replacing the starter. Its also possible that your starter isnt' getting enough juice, or your ground is bad. Go from there. Also if it went through enough water for it to go in air filter, it would be wise to change the oil as well to make sure no water is in your oil.
Thank you,

Mitsubishi montero sport 99 - car will not start.

could be your ignition switch, first make sure you have power going from your battery to the starter, check at the starter for 12.5 volts then make sure starter has its ground, if that isnt it test the ignition cause thats probably what it is.
