It had a rattling noise while i was driving then it just died. i checked all the fluids and fuses and they all seem fine. when i tried to start it again it was making a clicking noise and was causing the lights to flash and the radio time reset so i charged the battery and it finally started again but it acted like it was gonna quit on me again so i turned it off so it wouldnt cause any more damage. i havent drove it since it died the first time. what could be causing this.

quick way to tell... next time it won't crank and just clicks... hit it gently with a hammer as you have someone attempt to start it... if all of a sudden it cranks.... it's the starter... replace it before it quites completely.

the reason your truck is shutting off is because one of your o2 censors is bad. had the same problem even got a diagnostic done ans showed no error.finally went to advance auto and asked someone who had the same problem. hope is works out

Sounds like an antitheft problem I would start with the antitheft system. Usually when you only have one key all keys have to be programmed together even the original. When you have more than one it is easy to program additional keys.

Turn on you headlights and have someone crank it. If batt is bad, the kights will dim. If you have a poor connection the lights will go out. Also, remove and clean the negative cable connection on the batt. Remove, clean and reinsta'' g lluck

Check you battery cables to make sure they are not corroded, and on tight. Check ground wires for the same, inside the engine compartment, and inside the passenger compartment.
