I just added freon to my 2000 dodge durango and it started blowing alot colder. Turned it off and then left about thirty minutes later. Got about 2 blocks away and noticed the a/c wasn't very cold and then heard a strange noise and started smelling chemicals, I assume freon. Got it back home and noticed the compressor is barely spinning and smoking alittle, the belt is spinning good but not the front of the compressor? Did I do something to mess it up?
At a rough guess you add excessive amounts of freon and that caused the compressor to seize up
gas is added using pressure gauges and not by the can
besides that did you use the correct gas as the r134a runs at a much higher pressure and will deliver liquid back to the compressor which is not good for the operation
SOURCE: squealing NOISE possibly from fan belt
Belts stretch from new. Try to tighten them again. Hopefully the are not glazed or this may stay with you.

you are bodging it and as you dont know anything about the A/C system then leave well alone and get it done with a machine.the whole system needs to be evacuated oil drain needs to be measured then refilled with the correct grade of oil and then regassed with the correct WEIGHT of gas and possibly a leak sealer added using special equipment. If it still doesnt work properly then it needs draining again and the venturi valve removing and checking out on the front unit. This is a specialised job for highly skilled operatives with the right equipment
SOURCE: 98 Dodge Durango no electrical power
When the armed Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) senses that the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, it enters its power-up mode. In the power-up mode the alarm system remains armed following a battery failure or disconnect. If the VTSS was armed prior to a battery disconnect or failure, the system will have to be actively or passively disarmed after the battery is reconnected.
The alarm can be disarmed by locking the vehicle and turning the drivers door lock to the lock (arm) position. Wait a few minutes then unlock (disarm) the drivers door and the vehicle should start.
If the VTSS has been disabled in the high-line Central Timer Module (CTM), the VTSS feature must be re-enabled using the Chrysler DRB scan tool. The clicking you heard was probably from the CTM located behind the glove box.

SOURCE: 2005 Dodge Durango Front AC won't blow cold, back air works great
could be the front door for the front air needs to be propped open so that is blows cold, could also be the a/c compressor or a clog somewhere up front in the vents... it could be numerous things, but i would say try propping the door open, if that doesn't work try replacing the compressor... haynes makes the repair manuals for the truck, goto auto zone, pep boys, etc. and pick up the book they have step by step instructions on how to fix the most common problems and all the different systems of the durango... the book will be very helpful, cause if you do your own work you can find everything easily..... hope this helps you...
