Fuel Problem I have an 88 ford ranger ext. cab.,4x4 2.9 liter with a standard tanny. My problem is is that I have right psi at injector rail, and power to injectors but fuel isn't going through the injectors to the engine. Replaced injectors, Throttle Position Sensor, computer, fuel pump relay among other things, but truck still won't start. Spray starting fluid into dome starts in 1 crank. Any clue?

I have checked fuel pressure and it is at 40 psi when the engine off and the key turned to the on position.

have you checked out the mas air sensor? is the check engine light on and have you had it hooked up to a computer and have any trouble codes come up. if you take it to autozone they check the computor for free

Fuel pressure regulator? This diverts excess pressure from the rail back to the tank. When they wear out they usually stay stuck open thus diverting all pressure back to the tank. Pressure tests do not reveal this as pressure is checked before the rail not in it. I do believe you have a bad fuel regulator. They are 75US ouch.

sounds like fuel pressure bleeding off. Bad fuel pump or bad pressure regulator on fuel rail. Can you hear pump run for 5 seconds when you turn key on? do this twice, 30 deconds apart and see if it starts ok.

New coil pack, ran good for a week. Replaced pack, wires plugs and fuel filter, still dies when I step on gas.2002 3.0 V6. 70K miles

The fuel pump may be about done. Check fuel pressure at the test port in the fuel rail over the injectors (rent the pressure tester)--it should be in the 40 to 50 PSI range with engine idling. If the pump continues to run with the key on, but the engine off, shows that the pump is about worn out. Hope this helps!

Hesitation after switching frm non detergent fuel to a detergent

the fuel filter is on the inside of the frame rail just aft of the driver under the truck. You may need a little spring clip release tool to get the lines off the filter, any parts store like NAPA or Autozone should have the tool, very cheap, about $6 US
