There are no lights at the swiches but when i push the 4x4 switch the relays behind driver seat click. the thing behind the drivers seat, what is it? it has a single led that stands out and there is a button to push and it lights up for about 30 seconds still nothing happens with 4x4 or the low
What i've been told or understand, is if your box behind the seat, which i believe is a 4x4 module of some sort, clicks then your actuator motor under the vehicle is stuck, broken or simply not engaging. Have someone pushing the button slowly while someone crawls under the car to tap the back end of the motor.
If this helps you are having an issue with the motor, its stuck and usually needs to be replaced.(the motor at a parts store is called a transfer case motor)(they have them at schucks).
If that doesn't help then you may be having the same problem i am.
I'm dealing with a similar problem the only difference is that my unit
behind the driver seat doesn't click at all. The little led doesn't
light up either. I don't think i'm getting power to that module. But finding a wiring schematic for the system is proving difficult.
That is the same way i understand it from what ive been told.i am currently having the problem of not hearing the motor actuator on transfer case making any noise when i push in the button.i tried checking the plug going to wires on it and cant find power in the plug.further more i cant get in close enough to see where the loom is going from that point so i cant trace it well enough.i am almost certain this is my problem but to be sure i would like to know just how to check that plug for power properly because it has 5 terminals in it and i think its only 2 of those terminals i need to check for power.the only thing is im not sure which 2 it is.this is on an isuzu trooper 3.0L diesel 2001 swb and i feel this should be much easier to fix than this but i am really struggling.can someone please please help me with this??

I hope someone knows answer to alanvrod's question. My Ranger non-engage prob. is the same, however, it no longer even clicks where I used to have success after multiple attempts. Willing to replace if I could identify as the problem. gschuchholz
