Why does steering wheel shimmy from 48 to 55 mph and also jumps up and down frequently?

The most common issue is tires and you said that it was speed balanced? How long ago? By whom? When tires are balanced there are weights that are clamped to the rim. If the weights are loose and fall off, the balance does no good. The speed is another issue, tires are balanced for a certain speed and until you reach that speed, it is usually not in balance. Lastly it could be brake rotors or a CV joint or bearing that is bad.

possible a wheel alignment possibly from the rear wheels and loose/worn suspension rubbers

My steering wheel shimmies at 40 mph only

All you need is a wheel balance. Either that or you have some mud or ice stuck in a rim, or it could be a bent rim.

I have a problem with my sharan it shaks betwin 40and50 mph, can u tell what's the problem

Sounds like a wheel balance problem. Take your vehicle to a tire store, and have them balanced and rotated.

Guys my jeep liberty 2003 engine start shaking when i reach 45 mph but before that in seconds the transmission shift 3ed to 4th several times in rapid and than the shaking happens and i must step a side...

Google "***** wobble" common on big Dodge, Ford, Chevy, and things (like Jeep's) with bigger tires and lifts as miles go up. Yours is also likey a bad wheel balance . Have the wheels balanced and watch them spin as they balance them.

1999 Jeep-violent shaking of steering wheel when braking at 55 mph and then stops when speed lowers to say 40 mph. Only on highway, not streets. When first happened, installed new rotors and brakes, but...

1. out of balance tire because it sounds speed spacific.
2. worst of all! Loose lug nuts or possibly loose spindle nut. (you will need to lift the wheel off the ground to tell)
3. worn linkages i.e. ball joints, steering linkage, anything that would allow play in the front wheels.
