TCL Problem? I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante. The Traction Control is acting up. It mostly says the TCL is off. However the problem has been gradually getting worse. It has now started to shift from Drive to neutral. Back in forth at low speeds and has NO power. Barely crawls up to speed. At higher speeds it's good. I am pretty good with cars, but not so much on the traction control because I hate it anyways, lol. Would cleaning the sensors help the problem. Is it brake dust build up or does anyone know of the fix for this as it appears to be a very common problem with the make.

Hello Shane73,

I'm not aware that dropping the transmission out of drive
was part of the traction control countermeasures...??

I just sounds DANGEROUS...!!

My best advice would be to get the tranny evaluated...

Has this symptom occured several times or just a one off? If the trans works OK I wouldn't mess with it.You know what they say about sleeping dogs! I think Mitsis are not that strong in the auto trans department

SOURCE: when in drive the neutral indicator light flashes

Check your ATF cooling system. Your transmission fluid is overheating. This might be after a hard drive. The fluid might need to be replaced too.

SOURCE: P0300 code with the traction contol light popping on

Yes it does, the traction control is controlled threw the p c m,and if the tire size has changed there will be a vehicle speed sensor sendig the wrong information.Check with the dealer on what needs to be changed to accomodate the tire change,I think it will be a reprogram to the p c m.

Tcl is traction controll, it turns on when needed , in slippery conditions. It works all on its own, the car engages when needed.

Intermittant starts running crappy and tcl light comes on

When the TCL light is on usually means there's a problem with the traction control, need to have inspected real soon. Could be a speed sensor.

Have just bought a 1995 mitsubishi diamante and would like to know what the TCL switch is for

The TLC switch is for Traction control and It usually turns on by itself without pussing it. Its to send more traction to the tires when the car slips/skids. It happens more is Rainy or Snowing Conditions
