I have a 95 Nissan Maxima SE. One year ago the alternator and battery were replaced. Two months after that we had a hard freeze, and the battery drained completly overnight. We were able to recharge the battery, and had it and the alternator checked, and everything was working properly. Fast forward to this week, we had another hard freeze. Again the battery was drained completly overnight. This time after recharging the battery, it will not turn over. The car lights, radio, heat/ac will all come on. When we turn the key in the ignition the car makes an "yeee yeee yeee" noise. We have also tried to jump it with another vehicle, but it will not turn over. What should we try next?
I also have a 95 max and I had the same problem two months ago and they said it was flooded. Go that fixed then yesterday it wouldn't turn over. I got a brand new battery and it is running now. only thing that last in a nissan is nissan alternator after market over heat and stop working also check small harness at the alt for green fuss clean or replace
Often when you lose an alternator its because the battery is too weak. Then systems start failing everwhere. Have the battery tested, chances are its got a dead cell in and you'll want to change it asap or it will cause damage to alot of relays and sub systems.
Have an auto electrician CHECK ur HARGiNG system!
Either ur battery got problem or the alternator!
Alternator should have 13 to 14 volts output while running!
Taah!
TURN OFF RADIO TO KEEP FROM LOSING RADIO CODE.THEN YOU REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.DISCONNECT THE 2 LEAD WIRES AND HARNESS CONECTOR FROM ALTERNATOR LOOSEN THE DRIVE BELT ADJUSTING BOLT AND REMOVE THE BELT. UNSCREW THE ALTERNATOR ATTACHING BOLTS AND REMOVE THE ALTERNATOR FROM VECHICLE.VISA VERSA PUT EVERY THING BACK.AND ADJUST ALTERNATOR BELT TENSION.WARNING DONT PUT TOO MUCH TENSION ON BELT.BECAUSE YOU WILL DAMAGE ALTERNATOR PULLEY BEARING.
Hey! I have a 97 Maxima SE and it runs great too! I have been through 4 alternators in 12 years....3 in the first 5 and finally one for the last 7. Make sure you have a new- Nissan part specific alternator. And, make sure your battery is not weak nor small for your car size. Hope this helps!
Check your battery fuse mine just also did that and it was the fuse under the hood. Location of fuse box is by the battery and it should be the big fuse close to the middle
I thought this was free support. Apparently I was wrong. How did I fix it? Easy, I broke down on the freeway and got towed home on a flatbed! That was easy!!
