Jeep stalls gauges don't work windows and locks and radio don't work

98 Jeep grand cherokee laredo 140K...been sitting abandon on military lot for a while, took to a local small mechanic and they replaced some belts and idle pulley, battery, oil change etc. Was running fine then noticed the window and door locks were hit n miss with working as well as the radio is not working most of the time. Then I drove it around town and when I was pulling in the parking lot it stalled before i parked. put it into park and tried to crank it and it wouldn't crank and none of the gauges were working. Had it towed to same mechanic and now he says he thinks its the distributor but i have read things that make me think otherwise: PCI-BUS ignition coil ATC control module CPS 02 sensor PCM

When you state it wouldn't crank, do you mean the starter won't engage or that it just spins over and doesn't start? if no gauges or no starter engagement, then check the battery, battery connections, and the starter for excessive amperage draw. if the starter spins and the engine won't start, then check crankshaft position sensor first. the crank sensor is a more common failure than the distributor or any of the other things you mentioned.

SOURCE: 1996 Jeep GC stalling with no warning when driving

my 96 grand cherokee had the same problem with stalling minus the clock reseting part. what fixed mine was an idle air control motor it sits at the back of the throttle body on top of the motor. the part cost about 60 bucks and it hasn't stalled out on me since. i hope this helps you out.
