Have a problem with a jumping oil gauge switch and was told that removing the sludge might help
Unable to comment on whether or not the diagnosis you have been given is correct or not, though it does sound reasonable, but in terms of getting rid of crankcase sludge, there are TWO issues/options:
1). Sludge inside the valve cover/s is usually a result of: a) sort distance journeys; b) Poor crakcase ventilation.
You may not be able to do much about a)., but the ventilation [b)] you can by making sure all of the tubes connection the crankcase to (usually) the air intake system are completely clear and able to vent the gases created in the crankcase.
Then to cleanse the lower end of the engine of any remaining sludge, which though unlikely, may have collected, the best option is to use a flushing oil. Engine flushing was in vogue back in the 1960's and 1970's when engine design led to a great deal more sludge. I understand that flushing oil is still available and you may wish to try it to see if it helps with the problem you are concerned about. Best method is to follow the manufaturer's instructions (on the can), but if in doubt, run the engine until it's thoroughly warm and then drain off the old oil. Once the sump is empty replace and tighten the drain plug and refill with the flushing oil and run for at least an hour (ideally more) using a range of revs, though never too high. Once done, drain the oil and wait until it's all out. Replace and tighten the drain plug and refill with the standard engine oil, and HOPE it's cured the problem you started with. Best of luck!!!

Try hooking up a mechanical gauge to make sure you have a problem.
SOURCE: Changed oil in transmission and filters now won't go into gear
I Fixed it !!! What happened was that the "O" ring that came with the filter wasn't fully seated in the pump before i put the filter on. It was kind of hard to get it to seat properly I had to get a hammer and a socket w/ an extention and tap it in. It wont go in with finger pressure alone. To find out if this is what the proble is then take off the pan and remove the filter, if the "O" ring is attached to the filter when u remove it then this is the problem.

i am glad you asked
thats i the problem with the electronic select FWD system
when towing a FWD you should put both selectors in neutral this frees the transfer case and the drive shafts
how ever with the electronic system i dont know if it stays in neutral when the car is disconnected from the battery.
so you can make some tryles
i know when towing a FWD car u do need to put the transfer case in neutral to prevent damage
if you have the owners manual check under towing
if you don't, contact your local dealer and see what they say
hope this helps

To release the belt you have to loosen the Belt tensioner enough to get the belt out of the way. Find a wrench that fits the puly bolt and turn it either clockwise or counter clock wise to depress the pully arm. Becareful, as the tensioner is spring load and it can bounce back and hurt you while removing the belt. I dont know what size the engine is but, the tensioner should look something like this..
