My son's '06 Wrangler X shakes and screams when breaking at 40mph going down the mountain. He said it only happens when it's hot. I've taken it to a mechanic who checked the brakes nothing wrong actually they're brand new. Took it to the Jeep dealer they ran a diagnostic on the computer and it didn't find anything wrong, the dealer wanted to change the rotors on the front and adjust the back but I know the brakes are fine and nothing needs replaced on them. His dad dogged it this weekend and I drive like my son does and we can't get it to do it. My son said it has happened several times. His dad seems to think it's wheel hopp. It does not have ABS
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, all brakes tend to make noise when hot or dirty ,another cause is cristalized rotors, this can be corrected by turning the rotors at a machine shop or brake shop ,this will also correct the shaking that is frecuently caused by warped rotors caused by heat ,does not matter if the brakes are new , C1.....
Well it sounds to me that the front rotors are warped and when they get hot thats when you feel the vibration or shaking. i would change the rotors on the front

The brakes were fine the front end was out of alignment.
