How to repair problem code P1747 Mamurfacturer Control Transmission

Hi I have a 1997 Ford Thunder bird LX 4.6L V8. I have had this problem last fall and I have it now. When it happened the first time I installed a new pressure solenoid and a different wiring in the transmission wiring harness. It ran good for over 3,000 miles or more. Both times it starts with the over drive light blinking then the transmission starts bucking and lose of motor power. This time I took out the computer and sent it to a repair shop in Fla. When I put it back in and made no difference to the car. So I call the repair shop and they said they installed new transistors and diodes for problem code P1747.Manufacturer Control Transmission. They said that the wiring harness from transmission to computer is bad some way and that the computer has gone into protect mode. If I do fix the short will it reset the computer. I have been a auto tec. for over 35 years but this one got me now.

Looking for the location of the cam shaft sensor on a 1997 ford thunderbird 4.6 V8. Does anyone know ehere it is?

Hey, I do! I had a problem with the cam position sensor on my 97 T-bird two years ago. The symptoms were weird, like a bad transmission acting up, but it wasn't the trans. Anyway, the CPS is located behind the power steering fluid reservoir on the right side (when standing in front of the car with the hood open.) The CPS sticks into the top of the head. It was relatively easy to replace: one bolt holds it in place. Take that out, reattach the electrode, and you're back in business. Good luck!

The Heater Core is going out in my 1997 Ford T-Bird Lx 4.6L v8, is it a hard job to replace?

the dash has to be removed it is a big job, check the haynes manual for the procedure or the ford service manual.the cluster radio and hvac controls come out and the light switch and the steering column has to be dropped ect.some fords like the mustang can be done by wedging something into the right side of the dash and you can get in behind it and do it in 3 hours instead of 10 hours.

No, does the transmission still shift gears? Might be a power feed problem.
