My 94 wrangler starts fine, runs fine, but it sometimes stalls when I put it in reverse or drive. It will start up again right away. It won't stall if you keep your foot on gas as you shift into the gear. It never stalls when driving. It has been used for snowplowing.
The gas filter is probably in the rear of the jeep by the gas tank. Now, on to the diesel problem. Remove as much diesel fuel as possible from the gas tank and refill it with gasoline. You may have to crank the jeep to purge the diesel fuel out of the fuel lines. After that, it should start and run okay. There should be no damage to the engine from the diesel fuel.
Talk about over kill. Someone has suggested replacing the transmission because of the possibility of low engine idle.
The most diect route to solving any problem is the correct diagnosis. I am in agreement with Taran. The simple proceedure of connecting a tachometer to the Jeep and then reading the engine rpms in drive will tell us what we need to know. By the owners own admission, the Jeep runs fine, and after stalling starts and runs fining, and then finally he says that by simplily using his foot to raise the rpms a little seems to correct the problem.
The correct engine settings will be printered on a white decal in front of the radiator, and as Taran says, it would only require a small adjustment on the engine idle. It is the best place to start.

Try getting your transmission fluid checked and flushed and make sure you have enough fluid in the transmission so that you can change gears smoothly and it will not stall or cut off. It most likely does that to save the transmission from being permanently damaged. Get it checked as soon as possible.
Check out whether the the engine mounts and transmission mounts were nearly tore apart.if they r then replacement of this is necessary.
and If your vehicle is a rear-wheel drive, u-joints on either end of driveline may need replacing.
Check idling... you need to adjust this cause this is almost always the cause of stalling.
Take the air inlet hose off where it enters the throttle body and take a look at the throttle plates. It is likely that they’re dirty and have a build-up of carbon deposits. That is the most common cause for stalling that we see in the shop for your vehicle. Sometimes all it takes is a good cleaning to cure the stalling problem. There is an idle speed setting on your Jeep, but to check and/or perform this service step requires the use of a computer scan tool for your vehicle. If the cleaning doesn’t help ask a repair facility to check and reset, if needed, the minimum idle speed on your Jeep.

Sometimes the Jeep does lose power, but doesn't stall. Someone has suggested to me that this is a transmission problem, that the torque converter is going bad, and that we need a whole new transmission. I have not checked the throttle plate or air intake, but can try that.
