How do i reset the tire pressure sensor

The light was on when I bought the car, bought new tires and the light is still on. Is there any way to reset this myself instead of paying a dealership to do it?

Yes. However you have to pay the dealer for the tool to do it. But at least then you can do it youself from then on.

SOURCE: tire pressure sensor reset

turn the key to the on position without starting it and beginning with the front left tire let a small amount of air out until the horn honks, front right next, rear left, rear right. You must be relatively quick doing this or the ECU will reset and you need to start over. The procedure is detailed in the owners manual. For some reason the dealer will give you the run around if you call seeking this information.

SOURCE: Reset the Tire Pressure Warning light.

well it depends, if you have just reset the tire pressures, the light should go off by itself, if it doesn't then you have a bad tire pressure sensor. If you have replaced the sensor, it must be programmed into the WCM by the dealership.

Does it have sensors in the aftermarket rims? If not, that is most likely the problem. You may be able to disable it through the dealership, but am not sure.

I just had new tires put on my 08 maxima and the tire pressure light will not go out. How many miles do i need to drive it for it to go out?

the light should go out in few miles. make sure that you have 36psi of pressure in all 4 tires. if you don't, add air to 36 psi and drive the car. If you do have 36psi s in all 4 tires, tahn the place that put your tires on may have broke the sensor. start with checking air pressure and making sure that you have 36psi in all 4 tires.

I had a flat tire an the low tire pressure light came on now that the tire is fixed it wont go off! i have pushed the reset in the fuse case but is still on

Hey. A lot of shops have a tire sensor reset tool. Its used to insure the sensor is still working and to test the cars ability to recognize the individual tire sensors. Contact the shop who replaced your tire to see if they have this tool. They should.... Double check tire pressure and make sure the tire sensor was not damaged as the new tire was being replaced... It happens alot...

Low tire pressure light won't stay off after proper reset.

Some newer Toyota vehicles have a sensor in the spare tire. Tires loose air over time naturally. I would check out the spare.
When did this TPS light start coming on?
Have you had new tires put on, or had a flat repair done before the light?

Reset indicator lights

The " Check Engine" pertains to the computer sysytem informing you of a failure code stored. In order to clear , the problem must first be solved, and then clear the computer. Tire prssure warning light advises of low air pressure in any of your tires. Check tire pressures. A fault in a particular tire valve sensor may also indicate a fault if all pressure are up to spec

Tire pressure warning light

If your vehicle has the silver-metal valve cores (as opposed to black rebber), the tire pressure light goes out once the tires are at or above the minimum inflation pressure. Note that the SPARE is also checked for proper inflation by the system. What I would do is check the spare for proper inflation. If it is low, resetting it should cure your problem. If the light does NOT go out, the dealer who put the tires on may have damaged your tire pressure sensor. To check that, you need a Toyota technician to check the output of your 5 sensors with their tire pressure sensor diagnostic tool. If one is not reading, I would take the vehicle back to the tire guy & make him buy you a new one, They are not cheap.
Hope this helps.

Reset tire th

It's also a good idea to reset the tire pressure sensors when you air up the tires. If I remember correctly, you click the odometer/trip meter switch until it flashes TIRE RESET (or something similar) then press the button and hold it for a few seconds. That way it sets itself to the pressure in the tires at the moment, and if it notices a pressure drop it puts up a warning.
