Evaporative Emission Vent System Performance. the emissions system on these ventures suck! good luck. It basically means the fumes aren't going where they are supposed to be going and if you live in a county or state that requires emissions testing, it will not pass until you get it fixed. other than that you probably wont see any other problems, you might smell gas but like i said those are just fumes not going to the right place.
does the smoke dissipate very quickly or floats around like its burning rich smells like fumes? this will help me diagnose your vehicle's problem i'm currently working on the same van at my shop and i will guide you step by step on resolving your car problem my is rooster
This is a somewhat common problem on Nissan products. The V6 engine has several small rubber hoses connecting the fuel lines, and when it is cold weather the hoses leak fuel. The heater - defroster picks up the fumes from the outside vent under the windshield. When you are moving the fumes flow under the van. If you can find the leak sometimes you can just tighten up a clamp or two.
The "cause" would be a fuel system or EVAP system leak. If the fumes are that strong, then I would take the vehicle back to Ford again and make the sevice manager stick his nose in it and then tell you there is no problem....
Do you have an exhaust leak? That is usually the way fumes start getting into the car. Take it to someplace like Midas. They will do a free inspection of your exhaust system. If they do find a leak, and I suspect that they will, take it around to someone you trust, or get different estimates, as Midas is very expensive.
this sounds like you have a bad fuel line (leaking) clean the engine compartment let dry then let the van run. follow all your fuel lines from the engine back and you will find the leak. you will have a fuel pressure line and a return line back to the tank
